  • The Fairfax old school luxury

by AngMaree on 2018-03-16 09:12 pm

We loved The Fairfax - a beautiful building that fits in with the buildings around. So Washington DC. We had a suite because we were there for six nights, felt like old school luxury. Staff were so friendly and helpful - and the afternoon cookies were always a treat. The beautiful building and room suited the whole Washington DC and Embassy Row feeling. Highly, highly recommend this hotel.

  • Good Hotel on City Center

    by Vitor L on 2018-03-13 08:52 am

Nice reception and all people on hotel are very friendly and helpfull. Good relation price/quality. this is an historic hotel so furniture is old but well conserved. We stay only one night on our journey to new york.

  • A Mini Grand experience in a wonderful hotel, small but mighty

    by lornaa324 on 2018-03-09 03:26 pm

This Lovely small hotel gives you the feeling of being in a five star much larger hotel.
The staff are so warm and professional.
The corner large room was lovely with Traditional older furnishings,
The cleanliness of the room was good. the windows could have a washing though, but due to winter storms, they were soiled.
The coffee free in mornings, hot with several flavoring milk choices, and
A nice Buffet breakfast if you choose to have it for a minimal cost.
The Bar drinks were good, and Dinner service was good, food freshly cooked as ordered. Price range moderate to higher range.
location on embassy Row great to walk to restaurants in the area.

The views were great from a third floor onto Massachusetts Ave. across from the Indian Embassy.
Cab service was acquired for the asking.

  • Somebody should say it's under renovation

by SirNose on 2018-03-09 11:11 am

Never been to DC but I booked this hotel online and never saw a mention of the major renovation going on here. In fact, every morning at 7:30am the banging and noise started in just above my room on the 5th floor. Super noisy. Why don't they tell you when you check in or at least start the heavy banging after 9am??

Hard to tell about this place as the restaurant is closed, the check in is at two tables in the tiny lobby, and the at is rigged up in the back of the lobby main room. The wait to check in takes forever as there was just one guy when I checked in at 7pm and people were waiting.

My room was comfortable although the water fixtures in the bathtub and shower were nearly falling off.

I wished I had stayed somewhere else or at least given a warning of the work going on here.

    Owner Response
Our staff is working hard to minimize any inconvenience our lobby renovation may bring. We apologize that you were not advised and for any frustration, this has caused you. We hope that you will give us another chance in the future to welcome you back.

  • Old world style

    by Victoria L on 2018-03-08 10:20 am

Pleasant room in an old world style. Good location for good contemporary restaurants. Hotel restaurant was OK, not too special. The Phillips Collection (museum) is within walking distance. Easy access to cabs for all other museums in DC. Will stay here again on future trips.

    Owner Response
