  • Awesome hospitality!!!

    by nikki_gmani on 2017-08-14 10:09 am

I want to commend the front desk employees for their amazing hospitality!!! They went over the top to ensure our stay was pleasurable! Whenever we had a question or request they definitely delivered. They even provided suggestions on where to go for food and events in D.C. The rooms were clean and set up nicely. Location was great for shopping, restaurants, and night life. Both Rania and Q were great!! It's people like this that allow for a great experience... felt like a home away from home. Thank you!!

  • Excellent location with competitive pricing

by Zzardvark on 2017-08-10 04:10 pm

If you're looking for an excellent location that's a bit away from the heart of tourist land, the Fairfax is an excellent choice. It's near Dupont Circle and at the foot of Embassy Row, a much nicer choice that's closer to where Washingtonians live and eat. Also, the hotel often offers competitive prices on online sites, so you can often snag a well priced room. Be aware that the rooms are not of a standard size and even the King rooms can be smaller than you might expect. So, if you want to ensure the room size, you should probably call the hotel directly.

Also, the Fairfax, like many hotels in Washington, suffers from an over reliance on traditional mahogany furniture. It's like Ralph Lauren showed up in the 1980s and decorated every hotel. The Fairfax falls squarely into that category--cabriole legs, fan light inlays, glass tops on everything. The only thing missing is Secretary of State Madeleine Albright wearing big shoulder pads and a big brooch. It's perfectly attractive and well maintained but honestly, it's time to get a new look.

You can do a lot worse in DC and this is generally a well priced hotel with a touch of elegance and a great location. It might not be your dream vacation hotel but it's surprisingly workable for a quick jaunt to D.C.

  • Exquisite hotel experience near the heart of Dupont Circle

by CGARDNERBOSTON on 2017-08-10 01:26 pm

This was my first visit and it was outstanding from the moment I entered this grand hotel. Its interior design is from yesteryear. The lobby is welcoming and elegant. The hotel is sprawling (for a city) and each floor is designed with Washington, DC architecture and heritage in mind. I opened my door to an amazing almost suite. I felt like I was staying in a room at the White House with mahogany headboard, distinquished wallpaper, carpeting and amenities. The bathroom was 5+ Star and I felt like a tycoon. Needless to say this hotel is a great stay and the price was not that expensive.

  • Great hotel

by pinkdork on 2017-08-09 12:08 am

Spent three nights at this great hotel located in Dupont Circle. The check-in was easy, the staff at the front desk was fantastic and the room was great, albeit a bit noisy because of the fan that ran the entire time and couldn't be stopped.

The hotel is quite nice and in a great location. I would recommend it.

  • Good, but not awesome

    by ghoekstra83 on 2017-08-09 06:12 am

The location of the fairfax is an absolute pro. Awesome pretty neighbourhood. The hotel itself is okay. It does not offer a lot to make it feel like a four star hotel. The rooms are nice and you get some free water bottles upon arrival. But we had to go to the lobby to get towels. They ask for an extra 13dollar/night for wifi and 18 for breakfast, which feels a little oldfashioned. The free cookies in the lobby in the afternoon are a friendly plus.

    Owner Response
We're happy that our location in Dupont Circle, one of DC's most vibrant neighborhoods, was such a draw for you. We do, however, regret that we did not impress you at every turn. We would like to share that Wifi is free in the public areas of the hotel and complimentary for iPrefer members. Thank you for sharing your feedback, we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back.
