  • Great value

    by George K on 2018-01-14 10:43 am

This hotel is a great value. It's nothing too fancy, but staff is cheerful and welcoming and rooms are quite decent. The are, probably, the best value in Washington, DC, especially having in mind that it is situated just off the Dupont Circle.

  • Just a little frustrating

    by Amy R on 2018-01-12 01:22 pm

Beautiful historic hotel, that is for the most part very well maintained. With the exception of the rat that was dead and layed there all three nights by the back entrance, so I'm not sure how much the grounds are kept up. The room was a standard king room and was small but comfortable. We flew into BWI and finally got to the Fairfax around 8 pm, check in was good then we get to our room and neither key card worked....all I wanted to do was relax. My husband went down to get new cards and the lady at the desk told him "I thought I may have forgot to activate them". Are you being serious! The next night after dinner headed back to the room and once again key cards did not work. With things like this happening I could not give it a better rating.

Holidaying from Australia in your country for 2 months & stayed here for 2 nights out of our 7 night stay. Beautiful, lovely charming hotel. Loved both hotels I stayed at in DC for our 7 night stay. Cannot fault this hotel. Yes it was expensive but worth it. We upgraded to a king suite & had a view of the Indian Embassy across the road. Our room was so spacious plenty of space left even with our 4 suitcases in the room. We were travelling with our 4 friends who also stayed here in just standard rooms. Really just as spacious but their view was of an adjoining brick wall or carpark. Bathroom was huge. Double sinks plenty of room for hubby to shower & me to do makeup & hair. Breakfast included every morning. Yes they use paper plates, knives & forks but had everything you could want for breakfast from yoghurts, juices, fruit, pancakes, bacon, eggs, toast etc. Staff were lovely & very helpful. We walked everywhere even to the Australian Embassy to have photos out the front. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • Classy hotel and we got a great deal!

    by Mark M on 2018-01-09 12:16 am

Our family of four, two adults and two teenagers, stayed at the Fairfax for three nights between Christmas and New Year's Eve. We got a great deal through the hotel's website with a price comparable to hotels of lesser quality, and with our AAA membership had complimentary valet parking. It's a classy, solid hotel without any glitz. You can walk to the Dupont Circle Metro stop in five or ten minutes.

  • Washington DC Sightseeing

    by Stone R on 2018-01-07 12:37 am

Spent week before Christmas here and would highly recommend. Professional and attentive service by entire staff, especially Maki at the desk and a manager named Semere. Two short blocks to Metro and we enjoyed a
number of local restaurants, incl. La Tomate Bistro and Front Page. We even walked to National Cathedral from hotel but that was a hike! I would however avoid hotel's breakfast but service and fare were fine even then (value $ on buffet?).

    Bottom line:
If you want great location, clean and roomy accommodations, and a smiling and professional staff; this is a great spot from which to see our Capitol!
