  • Nice historic property with excellent common areas, grounds and staff

    Spent a long weekend with my wife here and had a great time. The hotel definitely possesses a historic charm about it but still manages to keep the modern amenities you expect from Fairmont. All the common areas are excellent. Nice outdoor areas and the fitness room is outstanding. The rooms are a bit small and feel very much disconnected aesthetically from the rest of the hotel. I don't mean that in a negative way. The building is old and the rooms were obviously renovated but they are a tad small (not dated) and the main areas are quite grand...it is just a contrast.

    All the staff were all excellent (from the spa/gym, to the front desk, concierge and bellman). Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. I love the texting feature (I wish more properties would do this!). I was out with my wife and we had been to a lot of wineries, etc and I knew we would want something to snack on before dinner and we needed to hydrate after a marathon tasting expedition. I simply texted and they delivered water and small foods to our room that were ready when we got back....excellent! Really love that. I also used the texting feature to arrange for dinner one night and it was simple and seamless.

    If I were going back to Sonoma (not Napa) I would certainly go back. I would probably book a bigger room (jr suite or suite) but other than that I think this property is a real gem!

  • Wedding Weekend

    Would not recommend for a private event. They understaff food service and housekeeping. Rooms were not ready when promised. Staff turnover is extremely high and decisions made regarding event details is not shared with the replacement employees. For the prices they charge and the reputation of Fairmont name, this property does not meet expectations.

  • Fantastic stay

    We just got back from Sonoma Fairmont - my husband and I loved this resort! The staff was nothing short of kind and professional.
    I was so happy with the customer service and the great suite we were upgraded from. Resort amenities were explained and we were provided free breakfast each morning.

    We also thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Sante, the hotel restaurant. It's a must try!

    I would highly recommend using the Fairmont's bikes to explore the surrounding areas. The staff will draw you up a map and point you in the right direction. Loved it!

    The gym was a bit outdated and packed with eastern time zone resort stayers in the early mornings.

    Self park was easy and convenient.

  • Historicl hotel that has retained the original feel

    The Fairmont has done a fabulous job of keeping some of the features in the rooms that feels like it did when it was first built paired w modern touches that work well together. The grounds of this property are so inviting. There's a lot of cozy seating w beautiful potted red flowers, fountains and fire pits that makes you want to take a seat and enjoy being outside. The lobby has that wine country feel also w clustered seating that is very nice.

    I had pictured in my mind that the entrance to the hotel would be on a somewhat secluded road in the wine country. It's in an odd spot for such a beautiful property. It's close to some small retail buildings that aren't the prettiest. But, once you go through the entrance, you do feel miles away and get lost in the gorgeous property.

    I would have given this hotel five stars if the service was better. It took forever to check in. There was one person working at the front desk at 4:00pm, prime time to check in. The staff were all nice but didn't go above and beyond as should be expected when paying these prices. The Fairmont should take training lessons from the Ritz Carlton for service.

  • Staff great, facility needs some work

    Rooms old and need some freshening. Staff reaponsive and friendly. Food and beverage very good.
    Spa very good. Maybe a little overpriced, but worth it.
    Not the best for business conferences but adequate. Just one computer in lobby for place that is a business conference center and no bathrooms in conference facility.
