The Greenbrier®

Overview

For more than 200 years, The Greenbrier has been known as America’s Resort. It is, quite simply, one of the country’s grandest resorts and a standard of hospitality and service that is recognized the world over. Set against the beauty of the Allegheny Mountains, this grand dame of hospitality has welcomed kings and queens, presidents and politicians, luminaries and celebrities from all corners of the globe.

With more than 1,800 employees, many of whom are second-and third-generation, The Greenbrier’s attentive staff usually outnumbers its guests. The surrounding 6,500 acres afford a never-ending array of activities, from traditional pursuits such as golf, tennis and croquet to more adventurous offerings such as The Greenbrier Off-Road Driving School and falconry classes. Other features on property include the full-service Greenbrier Spa, The Greenbrier Culinary Arts Center and The Greenbrier Clinic. The Greenbrier continues a tradition of elegance and refinement that includes a dress code.

During the Cold War, The Greenbrier was home to a secret "bunker" intended to house Congress in the event of an attack.
