  • Great Value GET AWAY

by nejorob on 2018-02-22 10:52 am

Winter is a slow time of year. It is a great time for mini getaways at economical prices. Hotel Viking offered through some very busy marketing, specials with different perks. It was a great trip, a beautiful hotel and great hotel staff.

  • Definitely worth it!

We have been there for spa services and enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is very good if you don't want to venture out. I would recommend this place for families or couples. I was there with 2 teens and felt safe letting them walk the area.

  • Great Stay!

    by Rachel E on 2018-02-17 12:04 am

I recently stayed for a weekend getaway and it was wonderful! The lobby is stunning and the front desk staff was extremely helpful. On this particular night they had live music in the hotel lounge, an outdoor ice bar, an ice cream social and s'mores by the fire pit on the patio.
Our room was very nice. The only two "complaints" I have are the size of the bathroom and the lack of a mini fridge or freezer. We had brought back ice cream after dinner downtown only to realize there was no mini fridge. The bathroom situation was just a little much; getting in and out of the shower you were basically right on top of the sink. Not to say the bathroom had to be extremely large, but there definitely could've been a little more space just for ease of movement.
Other than that, it really was a great hotel and I would definitely return!

  • Newport Girls Getaway

    by Nancy S on 2018-02-13 04:21 am

The friendliest staff and great location! Definitely make time to use the pool and hot tube. The bartender will even remember your name. Visit the Comedy Bit Players on Equality Drive and the art museum right down the street because they are a great value.

  • Nice but way to many issues!

by CarlaVPM on 2018-02-11 01:40 pm

The hotel was good not awesome! The lobby was classically decorated and the front desk was nice and helpful. Our room was large the beds were comfortable with nice decor. Valet parking is required but it was only $15. But our stay was overshadowed by a few major issues and a few minor things.
1/ We were charged a resort fee of $20. Looking at the papers we received upon check in we noticed we did not get a welcome drink. We were told there would be live music. We got back to the hotel after diner to find no music. We were told oh sorry we are disappointed too! We also noticed no refund on the fee. They also had s'mores by the fire pit but it was crowded with a large group and no available seats.
2/ We made the reservation to have a spa girls weekend but after booking the hotel we found out there were no times for any spa services after 9am sat for a mani pedi for 1 or after 5pm Sunday for 1. Initially I was told we will call you back. Maybe we can get someone else to work but they called back and said no sorry how about Sunday night!
3/ at 10:30 at night someone was pounding on the side entrance door for over 10 minutes. We called the front desk. They said "we will send someone." It didn't stop. We called again. We were told the engineer was on his way. We said Engineer? How about security we do not feel comfortable.
4/ the elevator closest to our room was not working so we had to walk down a long hall. Which was annoying and inconvenient.
We were hoping for a nice relaxing stay in a classic historic hotel.
There were too many frustrating issues for this level of hotel.
