  • Disappointing

    by Nancy G on 2017-11-27 06:17 am

Luxury does not describe our experience at the Inn at Montchanin Village. While the staff was very accomodating in trying to correct our many problems, they could not fix everything. Let me listen things they could fix: the fireplace did not work
    the tv did not work
the coffee maker did not work
The things they could not fix: the towel warmer did not work
the light over the kitchen sink did not work
the upholstery was substandard with batting coming out of the arms of one chair.
the carpet on the stairs was soiled beyond belief
THE WORSE OF ALL, THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE STEPS TO BE NEGOTIATED! There were about 32 steps up and down to get to the car. Both of us had recently fallen so this was a problem. I would NOT have made the reservation had I been informed.

Tha sheets and the bathrobe were very nice !
I cannot recommend the Inn at Montchanin to anyone!

  • charming, whimsical and unique

My boyfriend and I recently visited the Inn at Monchanin Village near Wilmington De. It is a quaint village of homes that was once occupied by Du Pont workers and it couldn't be more charming, cobblestone paths, gardens galore, garden sheds from retired priveys, porches, courtyards & their theme of the cow and bird everywhere! Krazy Kats restaurant on site, the prior blacksmith shop, is whimsically decorated with non other than cats but more importantly outstanding dishes & service. Rooms are clean, have kitchenette, some fireplaces & gorgeous luxury tiled bathrooms. We highly recommend the experience! There is also a spa on property tho we did not visit here. Note tho, breakfast is not included with room cost but is available in Krazy Kats.

  • A charming, historic setting with all the comforts of a 4-star hotel

This inn is made up of a dozen or more little houses that were built in the 18th c. to house workers at the duPont gunpowder works next door. Now each house has been gutted and upgraded to 21st c.standards. It is really fun to stay here and have a special dinner at Crazy Kats restaurant which is in the original blacksmith shop. There is a spa and an honor bar in the main (not historic) building where you register.

  • Perfect location for garden visits

The location cannot be improved. The accomodations were very nice and service was great. It was nice to have a lovely restaurant within walking distance and the gardens and grounds were neat, tidy and relaxing.

  • A real treat -- not to be missed!

We stayed here once before in a regular room but totally splurged on a 'suite' as my husband and I were staying with our adult daughter. The 'suite' was a 2-bedroom cottage! Rooms were comfortable temperature-wise and beds (and the sheets were the best EVER). Living area nice and perfect for 3-4 people. 2 nice bathrooms. This would be big enough for 2 couples (and really a bargain if that were the case). The only off thing was the honor bar -- we had hoped for a nice local beer like Dogfish Head or gin and tonics but no ice, no limes or lemons, and only the usual not-good beers. But I loved this place. Stay if you can!
