  • I just love this place.

    by Don S on 2018-01-30 07:09 am

My wife and I have visited this place from time to time, over the years, as it holds a special place in our hearts. Our stays have always been enjoyable, and this time was no different.

We usually stay in the Henry room, but since it was taken, we were given the Colonel. The room was spotless. Not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. The decor was pleasing and the bed was so comfortable.

The bathtub is large and easily fits two. It has a towel warmer which my wife would love at our home.

The service from booking, to checking in and to checking out was great. Krazy Kat's restaurant is located on the grounds which offers fantastic food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We enjoyed the Colonel room, but Henry is still my favorite. We will try another style room in the future so we can compare it against the Henry.

The Inn also has a gym and a wonderful spa area which offers many different services. It is worth checking out.

This is a great place for couples to get away. I will be back!

  • Unusual.

Looking for something different? This is your place! Rather than a high rise with lots of glass, mirrors, and thick carpeting, Montchanin is a group of converted small homes - each with two or more "suites". Room furnishings are - in some instances - "shabby chic" - used furniture apparently used in an attempt to complement the age and appearance of the houses. The public rooms in the main building were large and very comfortable - decorated in what I would describe as "Safari" style. Staff service was very good. We used the Spa service and the excellent restaurant and were well pleased with both.

  • Worn down room

I paid $244 for a January night. The chairs in the room were threadbare and the carpet was old. The fireplace was little more than a TV stand and I woke up to housekeeping vacuuming the floor above us in the morning and ridiculously loud toilets flushing all night. Not worth the money.

  • Home away from home

I've stayed at the Inn several times every year for several years since my parents moved into a nearby Retirement Community .
Have stayed for a couple days up to a 10 day stay with either my husband or sister .
The rooms and suites are wonderful , well appointed , comfortable and the bathtubs are marvelous .
Service is A+ and the Cizy Cats restaurant is terrific .
We love it there and really feel as if it is our home away from home .

  • Not As It Once Was

I stay here four times a year or so -- and have for almost ten years now. Its still on the Register of National Historic Places. Its quaint little buildings and rooms are still charming. But gone are the days of genteel, friendly service. Staff have turned over A LOT since former manager Andrew Braune departed. And quality of staff has gone steadily south. Thoughtless and downright rude on my last visit. Proving once again that Management Makes A Difference!
