  • Excellent and poor at the same time

by KidEvans on 2017-10-22 10:11 am

The hotel is beautiful, filled with period furniture and gorgeous restored detail. The breakfast is excellent and served some of the best fresh fruit I have seen anywhere. Nevertheless, the management leaves much to be desired. We booked a deluxe queen to attend a wedding and were switched to the standard without being informed. The standard was so small that the tiny sink was almost bedside and not in the bathroom. The shower was unlighted and almost big enough to turn around in.

When we complained and showed the original confirmation we were told the the wedding party might have made the change and that they really didn't have another room. To top it off, the room temperature was about 74F so we called and the engineer came to turn on the A/C. He did something but the A/C never came on.

It's hard to rate the hotel. It has so much going for it including its location near the museums and historic charm and beauty. Too bad out experience was so poor overall despite being finally given a $50 credit on our bill.

  • Can't wait to stay here again!

    by Lauren C on 2017-10-09 04:17 pm

I stumbled upon The Inn on Ferry Street for a recent overnight stay in Detroit. I was a little nervous because I had never heard of the inn before, but thought I would take a chance. I can not say enough positive things about my stay! Okay, I'll try. First, the staff is friendly and they go out of their way to be helpful. Second, the location is perfect. You are so close to all the museums, restaurants, and other midtown locations. Third, the environment is breathtaking!! If you are an architecture lover as I am, you will not regret your choice to stay in this lovely Queen Anne mansion. Fourth, if you are a history buff you will love this location. Fifth, if you like a clean room this is a place for you. Sixth, if you appreciate interior guessed it...the place for you. Seventh, if you like free stuff...the place for you..FREE shuttle 24/7 within 5 miles of the inn AND a delicious breakfast AND a chocolate chip cookie in your room. (Seriously, who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies). I could go on but,
I think you get my point. Don't bother booking at a big chain in Detroit, book at The Inn on Ferry Street, you'll be so much happier.

  • Nice cosy spot just outside downtown.

    by Dashiell B on 2017-10-05 02:13 pm

Great location for those don't need to be right downtown. Very quaint and cosy. Would be great for a romantic getaway (though the walls are a little thing. It is an old house. Good breakfast, clean, and nice friendly staff. One block from the new trolley service on Woodward Ave.

  • Charming Carriage House Stay

by jpaffel on 2017-10-04 08:20 am

We stayed in the Carriage House. There are 2 full bedrooms and one seating area that we used for a third sleeping area with a roll-a-way bed. The setting is idyllic in an old historic neighborhood with large mansions from days of yore. The main mansion has the registration desk and common breakfast area. All areas of the property that I saw were meticulously restored. Staff was excellent, courteous and efficient. We used the complimentary shuttle service (very nice) to get to different points of interest. The property is less than a block walk to the new Q Line streetcar that plies the Woodward Avenue corridor, from the New Center area south to the Riverfront. Beautiful property. Highly recommended.

  • Best Kept Secret in Downtown Detroit

    by Y3475THmichaela on 2017-10-04 04:49 am

My wife and I have been staying at The Inn on Ferry Street for close to 20 years and have never had a bad experience. We love the location in Midtown. It is just a block from the Detroit Institute of Art and even though you are in the heart of the city you feel like you are staying in a residential area. We have stayed in all four houses and all of the rooms are tastefully decorated. The inn also provides a free shuttle service to anywhere in the city and, they serve an excellent breakfast in the morning. Finally, we have traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Europe staying at bed and breakfasts and The Inn on Ferry Street is one of the finest!
