  • Waiting for this hotel's return

    As a native Houstonian I have only stayed at the hotel a few times for special events in the theater district, but I have enjoyed he Lancaster Grill and Bar countless times. We have always had great service, food, and drink. It is a long-standing meeting place in the theater district, and I look forward to it's return.

  • Weekend getway with class!

    I stayed here with my girlfriend, due to its location to another event in the area. Immediately upon my arrival I was greeted with friendly valet staff, complimentary champagne, and a pleasant check-in. I have stayed at a few 5 star hotels, and several motels through my travels, and I must say this is the only one that I've actually referred to a friend. The room was very elegant and modern considering the hotels age. I felt formal, yet knew I wasn't breaking the bank staying here. If you're looking for a weekend in downtown Houston, or going to a production/event nearby I highly recommend giving this hotel consideration.

  • Great attention to detail, good value

    August 2017: Our second time staying there. In town for a "Summer Chills" play at The Alley. An even-better experience than our first stay. Were in a lovely, elegant suite with a great view. Adelina, the person who was at the front desk when we arrived (and who had helped with our reservation), was very personable. Being offered fresh bakery cookies at check-in was a nice touch too. The complimentary gourmet continental breakfast was unique, tasty, and filling. Love the historical feel to the hotel - and all the attention to detail. Reasonably priced, too, for the quality and location, especially on most weekends; so convenient for the entertainment district. Extra charge for parking (which is valet and offsite), but that's pretty normal for downtown, where space is at a premium. Would like to try the restaurant (grill) for a pre-theater dinner sometime. Noticed, though, that the prices seemed to go up quite a bit since the year before.

    Sad to learn that The Lancaster was affected by Harvey-related flooding. Am sure they'll be back before v. long, though.

  • WOW! What a find!

    We'd been in Houston for a week already, at a fancy new hotel a few blocks away but had to change for our last night in town before heading back to Australia. We honestly just booked the Lancaster because of the cheaper price but once I walked through those gorgeous double doors and saw the interior of the Lancaster I wish I'd stayed there the entire trip. It felt like I was walking into someones stately home. It felt warm, comfortable and inviting. The small but beautifully decorated reception area has the most amazing furniture from a different era. Massive leather lounge chairs to recline in and chat with new friends while enjoying happy hour in the beautiful bar/restaurant. Delicious chocolate chip cookies were there for us to chomp on while we chatted to the amazing receptionist/concierge. I wish I could find her business card as she was just amazing! An asset to the company. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, the bed/mattress was amazing! I loved the included breakfast each morning. A full selection of deliciousness. Eggs, bacon, sausages, toasts, cereals... I could keep going! Honestly, such a wonderful, warm, comfortable hotel right in the middle of Houston! I can't wait to go back.

  • One of the best

    I just checked up on what was going on with the Lancaster after the catastrophic hurricane that hit Houston earlier this fall and was saddened to see they had sustained substantial damage.
    Having traveled around the world and staying in a variety of historic hotels, the Lancaster stands out as one of the best. From the generous hospitality of the staff, the welcome comfort of the rooms, and a fantastic complimentary buffet breakfast The Lancaster simply knows how to treat their guests. My husband and I anxiously await their re-opening and look forward to many future visits.
