  • Welcome restful quiet Lodge

The most perfect restful place on a road trip/ This Lodge was a surprise and of the pleasant kind. Accommodating personnel at every turn. Would definitely return in the future. Take the boat trip on the water inlet. Magic happens with what you see in both the water and trees. Bravo & enjoy!

  • Grand Dated Lodge

Should have heeded the reviews. The ceiling lights in the room did not work nor did the plugs around the room, save one with our lamp. The bed was old and squeaky. We did eat in dining room that night. The food and the service were very good. Complimentary breakfast was a joke. My husband ask for sausage that he never got and no butter for the pancakes. My biscuits were raw. The waitress never returned to our table before we left, I had to flag her down. Shame on me for paying that much for that room. It's a beautiful place that is sorely lacking
    lodge maintenance and management.

  • Breakfast

Would've liked to have stayed here but a wedding party made a reservation impossible. So we settled for breakfast in the dining room. Historical. Lovely setting next to the lawn and springs. Service a little slow. Breakfast was average...good enough before touring the park.

  • Beautiful and unique but not a Hampton Inn!

by BunkieFL on 2017-11-12 12:53 am

We stayed here for 2 nights in November and absolutely loved our stay. I read the review from Ganfo on Trip Advisor and that summarizes everything this is good and not so good about the Lodge. This "could" be a world class Lodge but then again you would pay $100 more per night. So...overlook the small things...and enjoy this piece of history. The only real complaint I have that affected the experience was having a mattress pad that was plasticized--hot, noisy, and uncomfortable. Wound up unzipping it and removing it the second night. Sheets and pillows a bit worn...but remember, this is a state park and not the Ritz. Didn't let it ruin the visit. Would recommend one or two nights here: arrive in time for a 3pm boat ride, take short walk before dinner. Then second day explore the area (St. Mark's Wildlife Refuge, lunch at St Mark's, etc..)

  • A day visit and boat ride not to be missed!

Back in 1959 to 1961 the FSU football team, including me, stayed there the night before home games so I have lots of memories. It is still the same, unique an original Florida. Have not been back in the rooms since but they must have been up dated. On the spring run, river, trip we saw birds, turtles, fish, gators and manatees. If you have a morning or afternoon free it is worth going. It is a State park and has walking trails as well.
