  • Charming and clean

Very nice for Spokane. Great staff, wonderful vibe and easy access to bars. Loved the Gilded Unicorn in the basement. Only complaint is the room was unbearably stuffy with zero air flow. We had to ask for a fan and leave our door cracked open most of the time, which would have sucked except our floor was pretty much empty, However, it is a 100+ year old building, so not surprising. We stayed with our dog (a lab mix), and the hotel staff was very chill and kind to her.

Thank you for the review maegenmcauliffe. We appreciate your feedback. We are currently looking into ways to improve airflow in the rooms; we appreciate you bearing with us during this time. Our location is hard to beat; we have three delicious restaurants attached to our hotel and each of them have very nice bars as well. We are happy to hear that you had a chance to try the Gilded Unicorn! We hope to see you again soon.

  • Great Stay. Historic Hotel Tastefully Restored.

    by Craig W on 2018-02-13 11:48 am

Stayed here for 3 nights and overall I was impressed with the stay. Clean, comfortable rooms, great location in the center of the entertainment district, friendly staff and access to some nice restaurants in the hotel itself. The 24 hour coffee/tea service was an added plus; I rarely see this in other 3+ star hotels. Having this service available really makes the difference! The only recommendation I would have is that the hotel should provide a daily paper, or at least access to a daily paper at the front desk.

Thank you for the five star review Craig W.; we appreciate your feedback. We are currently looking into receiving the daily paper from the Spokesman Review, and plan to make a decision very soon. We are very happy to hear that your overall stay impressed and we hope to see you again soon.

  • Takes you back in time

    by happyfamilyMacomb_Il on 2018-02-08 04:45 pm

Not really sure if this is an old or new hotel, but certainly felt nostalgic, but clean and modern with old world charm. We stayed in the parlor suite which had a murphy bed and table/fridge in one room, and a bedroom with a bed in the other. The lobby upon entering is very small and underwhelming, but the second floor was beautiful. Loved this hotel and easy access to many bars and restaurants downtown. Would definitely recommend. Coffee bar right outside our door. Free breakfast a block away, however we did not make it and cannot review.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel happyfamilyMacomb_Il. Originally built in 1899,The Montvale Hotel is the oldest hotel in Spokane, WA. We are Spokane's only true historic boutique hotel. A full renovation was recently completed, restoring the hotel to its original luster. We hope that helps answer your question regarding an old or new hotel.
We hope to see you in the near future, and thank you again for the review!

    All the best,

  • We liked pretty much everything about this place.

    by Alexander P on 2018-02-08 06:40 am

We liked pretty much everything about this place. We picked it because of location - walking distance to the Riverfront Park and several great bars and breweries, including Gilded Unicorn that is located in the basement of the hotel. The interior is freshly renovated and the art pieces in the common area are quite nice. We ended up spending some time in the common area (great coffee by the way!) getting some work done in the morning and just relaxing later on. The hotel has a certain charm you don't always find in chain hotels. The subtle vanilla scent and soft music help set the mood. Room and common area were clean, bed was comfortable and pictures are accurate. Parking was easy too. We will definitely stay there again!

  • Great Stay

    by 88Morgan on 2018-02-07 06:12 pm

My wife and I traveled to Spokane for the first time for a Fantastic Beth Hart concert and came away having fallen in love with the Montvale and downtown Spokane. The Hotel had a very friendly helpful staff and the room was clean with a great bed. We also enjoyed supper at the Guilded Unicorn and the Super Bowl in the Brooklyn deli lounge. A truly classic Hotel that we plan to visit again soon.
    Thanks Montvale.
