    we stayed at this hotel while visiting the area. the staff could not have been friendlier. the hotel does not have a restaurant but the staff gave us great nearby restaurant recommendations, which worked out well. the room was great -- homey and fun and lovely. and the hotel has a great house cat.

  • Best Hotel in Western Mass

    I've stayed here several times and love it more each time I go. I am usually in North Adams to visit MASS MoCA, but it would be a great no matter what the reason you're in MA. The staff is so friendly and the rooms are warm, cozy, and clean.

    We very much enjoyed our stay at the Porches. The room and facilities were excellent and we were impressed with the hospitality and efficiency in the way it was run. The year-round pool and sauna are wonderful. Loved coming back after a long day at the museum to soak in the hot tub and swim a few laps in the pool, even in the snow!

  • Very disappointing stay

    We had stayed here before when it first opened. Unfortunately the place has declined. The hotel seemed to be coasting and taking advantage of the fact that there are not too many other choices. Our room was very noisy and the breakfast was not good. Tables were not cleared. There were not enough coffee mugs, and there was very limited food. The food was messy and not enough for the number of guests. For the price of this inn it was a huge disappointment.

    We sincerely regret that our complimentary continental breakfast fell short of expectations. Although we remain confident that our menu--locally sourced granola, yogurt, breads and coffee, along with fresh-squeezed orange juice, hard-boiled eggs, freshly baked muffins and croissants, fresh fruit--is second to none, service and presentation matter. Please rest assured that our shortcomings in these areas are being addressed.

    We also want to assure you that we aren't resting on our laurels--doing so is a guarantee of failure in the hospitality business. We've had stiff competition since Day One, and more is coming, but we welcome it, because it keeps us in fighting trim.

    As does feedback from our repeat customers. We apologize for your disappointing experience and hope it won't prevent you from returning. We will make amends, I promise you.

  • Terrific for corporate retreats!

    I work at Smith College and we have used the Porches for parties of 20-25 people over the past few years. Jill Drummond and others always manage to take excellent care of all of our needs - from recommending local caterers and activities, to arranging the meeting rooms "just so." Everything has always gone without a hitch at our events and that is why we keep coming back! Not to mention the college students and workshop facilitators love the Porches rooms - they are fancy without being stuffy. Jill responds immediately to any and all inquiries and requests and I can't thank her enough for attending to all our needs! This place is amazing and we cannot even think about hosting our events anywhere else.
