  • Loved Historic Porches

    by Kathy H on 2017-10-20 010:34 pm

An historic Registry property lovingly restored, Porches has tons of charm with the added benefit of spa amenities and great service. We enjoyed the year-round, outdoor swimming pool and hot-tub, and especially liked the fact that we could easily walk to area restaurants and Mass MOCA, across the street. Very quiet in the blue house facing the back. Excellent beds, luxury bedding, a fresh flower in your room. Spacious bath with both contemporary shower AND claw-footed tub. Relax in your spa robes.

  • Best place to stay in North Adams.

    by Bob T on 2017-10-19 02:34 pm

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in this hotel, which is comprised of several 2 story buildings. Our 1 bedroom suite was large, with a huge bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The bed was very comfortable. They have a nice outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi, and a fitness room. The included continental breakfast had plenty of choices. Just a 5 minute walk to Mass MOCA, and a 10-15 minute walk to several good restaurants.

  • Funky and eclectic hotel

    by Arnie R on 2017-10-12 11:06 am

In a great location across the street from MASSMoCA and walking distance to restaurants. Rooms were cabin like, which was fine with us. Bathrooms were very, very nice. Bonus: You can get drinks in the comfortable living room til 1:45 a.m. And the cat that lived there was very sweet!

  • Pricey overnight stay

    by whitaker1956 on 2017-10-10 10:51 am

The rooms are described as eclectic, funky, etc. But the cheap piece of fabric as a curtain gives the rooms a tacky look. Also old lamps and chairs are nice if they give good light and are comfortable. These were not. That being said the beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, and the continental breakfast was very good.
However $300 for one nights sleep seemed very expensive for what we got. There was a nice heated pool and hot tub, but when it wasn't raining they were full. A good sign that they were a nice temperature.

    Owner Response
    Dear whitaker1956,

It certainly can be expensive to visit the Berkshires in the fall, when the leaves are changing from various shades of green to a spectacular palette of reds, yellows, oranges and purples. We like to think that our room rates are justified by our proximity to this colorful display, not to mention MASS MoCA and some of the finest contemporary art in the world, but this is a judgment that travelers have to make for themselves.

It helps if you also buy into our unusual decorative scheme, which harkens back to the time when our property was housing for employees of the sprawling textile mill across the street, now MASS MoCA; the muslin window treatments are in keeping with this theme.

Thank you for visiting the Porches Inn. We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again sometime.

    Best regards,

    Kim

  • Fun place to stay

    by marksF1200LQ on 2017-10-09 06:14 am

The concept of renovated row houses works really well for this hotel. The room we stayed in was on the second floor facing the back of the property and had a small porch. The pool, hot tub, and sauna area is very nice and is open all night which is nice. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The bathroom was also spacious and had a soaker tub and a walk-in shower. The TV remote control was a bit complicated to use, but it wasn't a huge deal. Unfortunately, no in room coffee maker was present so we had to go into the main house for that first cup of coffee. The road the hotel is on was not busy at night and thus it was very quiet after 10 pm or so. Another really nice thing about the hotel is that many restaurants are within easy walking distance.
