The Raphael Hotel

Overview
When The Raphael Hotel opened in the heart of Kansas City, it was at the forefront of the pioneer in the "boutique hotel" trend, offering individualistic accommodation with European charm, character, intimacy, personalized service and exceptional value. The Italian Renaissance Revival-style structure was built in 1927, serving as a nine-story apartment building adjacent to what is now the historic Country Club Plaza district. After undergoing extensive renovation that preserved the landmark building’s original brick exterior, the property reopened in 1975 as The Raphael Hotel. In 2008 the building’s original brick exterior and the wood-paneled ceiling in the hotel lobby were preserved and the entire property became non-smoking. In 2009 the property concluded a multi-year total renovation. Renovations included the lobby, business center, all guest rooms, restaurant, HVAC and the additions of an exercise room, 30-person meeting room and an executive boardroom, each finished with state-of-the-art amenities.
The Raphael offers easy access to a variety of downtown shops and heritage attractions as well as Kansas City’s Convention Center, Sprint Center, Crown Center, new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Overland Park, Truman Sports Complex and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Special-rate packages such as Kansas City Shopper's Delight, Girlfriends Getaway, Sesquicentennial Civil War Package, and the Romance Package reinforce The Raphael’s attention to stylized individuality and unsurpassed pampering.
The Raphael received the prestigious Four Diamond Award in 2010 and 2011 from AAA and has been ranked by Travel & Leisure magazine in the last two years.
The building's original brick exterior was carefully preserved.
