  • Great Experience for Families & Stunning Beauty

by carlrohling on 2018-02-20 08:26 am

My fifth visit to The Sagamore, a spectacular property on an Island in Bolton Landing on Lake George. I wrote a critical review last NYE 2017 but my experience this time was much better. Service improved dramatically along with the quality of food for Breakfast and at Mr. Brown's Pub (reminds me of an Apres Ski bar). In addition to the beauty, they have The Rec room where your kids can run wild playing indoor baseball (yes a mini-indoor baseball diamond), mini-golf, ping pong, basketball, video games etc. Kids can spend hours here. Lastly, the packages make this property a bargain. This visit I received two adult ski tiks to Gore (value $150) + breakfast included. It cost us twice as much to visit WhiteFace Lodge in Lake Placid and forget about getting a ski vacation anywhere in NJ or PA for under $300 a night. I would warn couples only that the property attracts families during holidays so the pool and other amenities will be filled with kids so stay away if you don't like children. Finally, if you have an issue with anything, ask to speak to the Manager Tom, he welcomes feedback which is why this place continues to improve!!!!

  • Beautiful Resort

    by BigCee77 on 2018-02-20 06:44 am

This is a beautiful resort with breathtaking views of the mountains and river. The staff is excellent and they provide great service. Shout out to our shuttle driver Jeff who took our group to Gore Mountain and explained the history of Bolton Landing and the surrounding areas. The food is surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Can waiting to go back next year!

  • Beautiful location, not a good experience.

    by Carole M on 2018-02-19 12:44 am

We just spent President's weekend, we had to stay at one of the outbuildings.
There were 13 steps to walk down to get to our room ,this after asking for first floor when making our reservations. The room was just OK. There was a $25 resort fee, we could not use the facilities i.e the pool because of an over abundance of children staying until the closing time of 11 pm. We went to the buffet Sun. night 45.00, the food was cold and stale and the worse buffet we ever had. The only saving grace was the terrific waitresses.
When checking out there was a $49 charge on our room for breakfast with our last name and room # on it. We did not eat breakfast there, this was unsettling as someone used our name and room #, we hope this is investigated as we feel this was someone in their organization who had access to our information.
Not all was lost, as it is an awesomely beautiful location. Perhaps the summer would be a better time to visit.

  • WOW factor!!

by Judarell on 2018-02-19 05:13 am

This hotel looks like something out of an old Hollywood movie, with the grandeur it exudes but without any pomp! Our family of 4 had the winter package which included kids daily breakfast that was outstanding in quality and service. The Rec room was perfect for spending quality time with the kids during cold weather. The shuttle made it so easy to get around the resort and they had activities happening all day long. But the best part was the breathtaking views no matter which way we looked. The property has a great deal of history and it is truly a sight to be seen. We went during Presidents wknd last year and this year. So serene and the suite was super comfortable and with fireplace to boot!

  • FAMILY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS!

by missybrown on 2018-02-17 03:24 pm

Let me start by saying this is not our first visit to the resort. We were a group of 10 family members spending the weekend to celebrate an 80 th and 30 th granddaughter/grandfather ! We had rooms in both the main building and lodge suites!
The main building rooms were a bit tired and could use some updates!
Spa services were excellent and all 5 women in the party had a great experience!
Dining was a bit of a let down-we at at both the club Grill and La Bella Vita for dinners
Good , not great! The resort has lost some of its polish and service was a bit spotty.
Having said that, it really is still the best in the area!
