Great Boutique hotel by the ballpark
Sam Houston was quite enjoyable. Excellent staff and comfortable bed. Restaurant served good food and bar had great drinks and service. Late nite flat bread and wine perfect. The only negative was over amount of putty around shower drain. Not a big deal.

Very Comfortable Stay
After reading recent reviews of this property on Trip Advisor, I was doubting my travel agent's decision to book the Sam. From the moment I arrived my stay was wonderful. The valets and drivers were very friendly and professional. The front desk staff recommended restaurants and even walked out the front door to point us in the right direction. The only issue was the homeless camped at the corner. During the day, walking by I was asked for money and I would not feel comfortable walking alone in the area at night, but that's not the fault of the hotel. I'd happily stay at the Sam again.

Meh, just average
The location of the hotel was good, close to both sports venues, and the downtown eateries. But the hotel is just average. Rooms are clean, but small and dark decor did not really appeal to the family. It was okay.

First-rate Event Venue
I have used The Sam for three events in the last six months. The hotel's ballroom is a superb looking space. Michelle was extremely helpful through all phases of coordinating my events. The chef and banquet staff provided great food and service. This is the first venue in a long time that I have had attendees be excessively positive in their feedback about valet parking. Their consistent delivery of top notch service has and will keep me coming back when their space fits my event needs.

Charming hotel with excellent service!
The Sam Houston is outstanding! Great character, excellent restaurant and bar. They also treat Hilton Honors members very well. Quiet in an excellent location, close to so much! This is a great choice if attending Astros games. Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal) is right across the street, for an added bonus.
