  • Excellent Historic Hotel

    by 273tcook on 2018-07-18 03:00 pm

The Skirvin is an excellent hotel located in downtown Oklahoma City and one of the oldest hotel in the city. Hilton bought the hotel and remodeled all of the floors and did an excellent job...in addition to keeping the place clean and up to date. All of the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and go out of their way to help in any situation. Prices are reasonable and the historic value (history and pictures on the wall) make it well worth the stay.

  • Not kid friendly, but nice

First, the hotel is beautiful and comfortable. My 3 children and I stayed one night. The hotel made sure to tuck us away in a corner room, at a safe distance from interfering with other guests. The room was nice. The kids and I ordered room service, and only received 3 sets of silverware, but the food was good. Over $70 for breakfast was a tad bit crazy. The lounge was elegant...too elegant for 3 young kiddos! We also ate dessert in the restaurant and the server forgot about us....I also ordered coffee, but she never brought it. I guess the hotel isn't used to having kids on the premises. We will stay at a hotel in Bricktown next time we visit, but it's a nice hotel if you're traveling for business. When we checked out we were behind a woman checking into a suite and they upgraded her to the presidential suite because she mentioned her co-workers were coming over and that the last hotel she stayed in had upgraded her. Impressive customer service for her!

  • The Great Escape

    by Ed R on 2018-07-14 10:22 am

I've been coming to Okc for 13years and have tried to get a room here for a while and I finally did on this trip.
Let me start by saying WOW! What a great place. The ENTIRE staff was awesome. First contact was the valet/bellmen. Very informative and helpful. A very nice black gentleman (only valet), sorry I didn't get his name, was very helpful. He even got one of the front desk girls to help him bring our baggage up stairs. She, later on, was a great help again. Dang it. I never got her name either. Anyway, great introduction to our stay here. Check in was quick and easy. (Frequent flier secret - get a high floor. You'll thank me later). Our two dogs were greeted very nicely. Yes they do except service dogs.
After check in and dropping of luggage, it's time to drink. The Red Piano lounge was a nice place to do exactly that. We also had a late lunch. We ordered the French dip sangwich and some drinks. First off, the BEST French Dip I have ever had. I recommend it highly.
I'll condense the entire week into these next paragraphs. Fantastic breakfast, lunch and Friday night Prime Rib. Full breakfast or buffet. Can't go wrong with either. Dinner choices we had were the Dip again, chicken sangwich, crab cakes, crab soup, salads, carrot cake and then more breakfast. The worst meal we had here, and everybody at the hotel knows not to get it, was the baked ziti. DON'T GET THE ZITI. It was so bad, it became a joke.
Great location. You can walk to bricktown and the ball park. I know you will have a great stay here. I highly recommend it.
