Been a Loveland local for a short time, but long enough that family wants to come see this crazy stuff. We travel to Estes Park often, because... we have annual passes to the National Parks and are very much enjoying the hiking and outdoors. Since we moved out many midwest family members and friends have stopped by... Everyone always enjoys RMNP while visiting, and there's plenty of awesome restaurants, shopping and sites for the remainder of a day trip in Estes Park. We have toured the Stanley many times, hung back once from the paid tour,,, haha, that was after we had visited here multiple times and usually just walk around on our own. Have a brew and appetizer in the lounge or stay for diner... I don't understand some recent reviews? As beautiful as this place is, its OLD, and in the year 2017, even with its history, its difficult to keep places like this running. Yes its "touristy"... AND IT'S AWESOME BEAUTIFUL COLORADO!!! Drive up to it on SR 36...Open your eyes and look around while on the property, can you just imagine the view in the beginning, the early 1900's. Another review that just stumped me...How could you not know you were NOT staying in the main building, this is 2017, have you heard of the internet? and maybe an app or two that... uuummmmm,,, has satellite pictures? apps with detailed street maps of the area? reviews on hotels, surrounding areas and activities. Yet you managed to post on this site, you understand how this works right?

  • suppose to be a nice weekend

The Stanley Hotel is an old hotel. We booked 2 nights. 12/8 and 12/9/17 We were given room 110 A classic king room and we were very disappointed. 1st is we had to walk outside then go back inside to get to our room. Then the room had a quarter of a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. The room was cold and they had a space heater in the room that was missing a wheel so had to use a book to keep it somewhat stable. It didn't put out much heat. The tub was a jetted tub overlay yet when we took showers it creaked every time we moved in the shower. Thought it was going to break or crack . We felt we given the servants quarters for $220 a night. So we used the glasses in the room for drinks and set them on the dresser when we left the next morning. When we got back to the room the dirty glasses were still on dresser with what we had to drink the night before. Extremely disappointed in the stay. At least they had restocked the toilet paper. The food is expensive. Not much to see. The bed was so so. . The carpet in the halls is very worn. Lights in hallway out. Christmas tree in hallway blocking path to walk. The building needs painted. We did the ghost tour and it was good. Wont go back to stay.

We took our family from out of town to see the beautiful Stanley Hotel. We took the tour of the Stanley Hotel and that was very fun filled with information and we also ate where the food was very delicious.

It was a fun experience staying at the historic Stanley hotel! The hotel staff was very nice and helpful! Rooms were nice and clean with comfy beds! The views from the hotel were awesome and it's a short drive to the Rocky Mountain National Park. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel for a fun experience!

  • Swing dance on the ballroom wooden floor...priceless

Saw big bad voodoo daddy and danced the night away. They had messons beforehand. Wonderful romantic wvening to dress up like its 1949 and dance away. Beautiful historic hotel. Sat on the veranda and saw the sunrise on the mountains...walked the grounds in the evening. Bed mattress was a little worn...not the best but ok.
