  • Lovely ambiance

by RickyoSpanish on 2018-05-25 09:36 am

This hotel was a very cozy and romantic location. From the complimentary valet service to the quiet house keeping service who didn't wake us once. The front desk was very helpful and quick and the bed was very comfortable. Shower had great pressure, very clean and neat. The only two things that could be seen as bad to me is the lack of a pool/hot tub and the tiny elevators. However this wasn't an issue at all because going in we knew it was a historical hotel, not a standard hotel. Plus those missing amenities allow for it to fit in its amazing location right in the downtown area, where we walked almost everywhere from. All and all we will definitely be staying there again the next time we're in Lakeland!

  • A Somewhat Blah Experience

    by ganst2018 on 2018-05-13 03:38 pm

My first problem: I booked this hotel with a special rate for the art show I was participating in. When I got there, they couldn't find my reservation, and found (after much searching and questioning) that they had misspelled my name in their system. OK, fine. Mistakes happen. THEN I find out when I check out that they booked me into a room that was $30 a night MORE than my reservation. AND I CALLED THEM THE NIGHT BEFORE TO CHECK ON THE RESERVATION. Yes, I can dispute the additional $60 they charged me for the room, but I'm sure they are counting on me not bothering with it. If you stay at this hotel, make sure they book you into a room you think you're paying for.
The hotel is old. That's obvious. But it's not a bad old...just old. And it's also obvious they've slapped on some upgrades when they renovated, but a lot of the upgrades just don't work. The front desk, restaurant and bar look gorgeous. Really impressive when you walk in. However, if you need a ramp, you're going to have to go to the side of the hotel to get in, and maneuver your way through extra tables and stuff they don't have room for. Boo on them for that.
Once in your room, you're going to smell how old the place is. The A/C is great - works perfectly, but you know you're in an old building. My "suite" bath room had NO counter space and I had to be extra careful when turning on the water if I didn't want it splashing all over me. Very poor design planning.
The restaurant and bar prices are really outrageous for what you get. All I can say is the food was slightly above average with elite prices. I can only imagine it's for the atmosphere, and not for the quality. One thing I did have that was outstanding was the lamb sausage...if you ever go here, get it.
Overall, the stay was average, the prices were not worth it, but the availability and closeness to where I needed to be were what I wanted.

  • Historic Hotel

    by Thais C on 2018-05-06 10:21 am

Quaint hotel in front of a beautiful lake. Staff was really nice. Valet parking was free which is a plus. The mattresses need upgrading, they were very hard. Did not get a good night sleep, felt like I slept on the floor.

  • Great Service, Tired Hotel

    by TravelGuyToo_Hou on 2018-04-24 07:47 am

I was able to stay at the Terrace for 2 days, wanting to try something different in Lakeland, as I normally stay at one of the chain hotels.

The service is great, A+. Valet parking free and easy.

What was iffy, were the facilities. The rooms are just tired, it in a bit of need for a remodel. Bed comfortable, bathroom has a leaky shower, and carpeting was just worn. Maybe the old look of everything gives it charm, but not great.

For food, great location to restaurants and they have their own high end place for dinner. However, only a continental breakfast, wished they had more substantial food.

Lastly, the image of the hotel in the website shows it looking like its on huge grounds with a lake, not the case. The pic was taken from a park nearby. Its simply a boutique hotel downtown.

Overall, I give it a 3. Just needs a refresh, but great staff.

  • Great location; average hotel

    by Anna G on 2018-04-24 04:36 am

We stayed only one night. The disappointment was that the room I reserved was not available. We were offered a smaller room and because of the mix-up, we were offered a breakfast voucher for our family. The breakfast was great and service excellent. Nevertheless, the room we stayed at on the 7th floor, seemed a bit dirty and very dusty. Hotel management should definitely looked into the hotel's cleanliness. This hotel has great potential. It's a historic building with beautiful architecture in front of the beautiful Mirror Lake.
