  • Service above and beyond

    by jcerra13 on 2017-10-16 09:46 am

Staff went above and beyond to make our 1 night anniversary stay something we will remember for years to come. From before check-in with a courtesy text to getting room ready early and helping us celebrate our anniversary with a nice surprise in the room once we got back from dinner.

  • Pleasant Downtown Hotel

The Westin Portland Harborview was enjoyable and easy to find with GPS. Guest parking was less than desirable because it appears to be separated from the hotel by another building, so access to the hotel was somewhat confusing. . As a result, we used the Valet, which, in my opinion, was overpriced ($38). The rooms were clean, with adequate space. The Staff was pleasant. Their "dining room/bar area is on the small side, most likely, because there are a number of other restaurants and lounges nearby. But the Breakfast was Outstanding. The servings were plentiful, and prepared with flair & imagination.. Kudos to the chef!! Breakfast was the highlight of our very brief visit here!

  • Nothing Has Changed In 3 Years!!!

by jaybeeFL on 2017-10-16 06:05 am

There was only one front desk attendant (Brendon) when we arrived @ 4:45PM as the other one was off to the side in a lenghty discussion with another guest. When he came back to reception he took later arriving non SPG guest before us despite our being there before the others!! When we were taken no rooms ready . I am lifetime Gold member and my profile requests high floor away from elevator. I reserved 2 rooms back in Feb and they assigned me Rooms next to elevator on 3rd floor (lowest floor with guest rooms in a 15 story hotel!!!!).
After much discussion they changed one room to one about 8 doors down on the same 3rd floor!! WOW--thanks for so much consideration. STILL NO ROOMS AVAILABLE at 5:10PM! Gave me a voucher for $25 for drinks in lounge for 4 people (the bill for 4 drinks--3 lowest priced glasses of wine $10 and one bourbon on rocks--- was over $60 b/4 the voucher!!) Thanks so much!
They were supposed to call or text when room ready--no call and no text. Went down to front desk at 5:30, got keys and complained no text or call--they claim they sent it 3 times--offered to look at my phone since we got none!!
Rooms were OK nothing great. Breakfast was OK but service was spotty.
Valet/bellhops were personable, fast and efficient.
Only redeeming grace was the lady who checked us out (Michele). She asked how our stay went and I calmly went over all the issues. She was extremely sorry and comp'd the drinks and breakfast. Thanks Michele!
Despite the compensation I would not return here nor would I recommend it. See my review of this hotel in '14--things seem to be going downhill!!!

  • Not what I hoped for.

I was disappointed. We stayed overnight as a quick getaway while the grandparents watched the kids. We live locally. Our room wasn't cleaned well. Someone's leftovers were left in the fridge. Basic items were not replenished such as the complimentary water and the lavender oil. I never would have known about these items if the empty lavender oil packaging and empty "complimentary water coaster" weren't left sitting there with no water. They did send up a lavender oil but it felt awkward having to ask for it. We had to remake the bed because the sheets wouldn't stay on. The bed had this horrible lumpy mattress cover that didn't stay place and bunched up under my body during the night. The pillowcases were too small for the pillows, which is just gross. The air system blows right on your face at night. The TV remote wasn't working for turning the tv on and off. It worked for everything else. All in all, I didn't think it was anything special. We won't stay here again or recommend this Westin to out of town guests. They just missed too many of the basics for a hotel in this category. Definitely not the treat we were hoping for. Definitely don't overpay hoping it will be worth it.

  • Nice hotel with less than average service

    by Retired662013 on 2017-10-14 06:40 pm

We stayed at The Westin in Portland Maine for a recent wedding. The hotel was formerly The Eastland Hotel and has been newly renovated. The hotel was at full capacity on a holiday weekend and the staff had some challenges. We had booked our hotel months in advance and have a Starwood Gold Status. We arrived at 3:45 for a 3;00 check in, and were told that we would have to wait 45 minutes to get into our room. At 4:30, we were told it would take an additional 30 minutes to get into our room. At 5:00, we were told it should only take another 15 minutes. Finally, my patience was running very thin, and I insisted on any room available. Many members of our family experienced issues with rooms, etc. The manager offered to waive our parking fee which we appreciated. I would think twice before I return to The Westin. I am usually very satisfied with this hotel chain, having stayed in Westin Hotels in various cities. The Portland Westin needs to get their act together.
