  • Somewhat disappointing

    by Gerd F on 2017-03-23 07:37 am

As much as the resort is beautiful and most all the staff (aside from the breakfast crew) are very did have some flaws and disappointments.
The biggest being when my wife booked our stay for 9 days, she was told by the staff member over the phone the resort fee was included in the price. We gathered because of the length of our stay they were making an exeption. Upon check out we noticed they add the resort fee to the bill. The girl at check out made an attempt to contact the manager to resolve the issue...unfortunately she was not available, but we were assured she would get back to us ASAP. Ten days later we have yet to hear back from the resort.
Also disappointing is trying to get a seat in the bar area patio at happy hour...i thought I was in Disneyland with the amount of kids using up seats in a bar...I thought bars were for adults...not screaming kids!
The rooms themselves though dated are very comfortable and large. Our room with a view to the first fairway was a pleasure to stay in and watch some of the young amateurs play during a tournament that happened to be playing while we were there.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. While I'm delighted that you were pleased with our beautiful grounds and the service you received from our staff, it is disheartening to read that your stay with us did not meet all your expectations. I'm sorry that there was a misunderstanding with your resort fees. Please reach out to us directly if you would like to speak to a member of our team to discuss your account. Thank you for your feedback pertaining to happy hour at the bar. Your comments will be shared with our dining and bar teams so we can address this matter. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back to The Wigwam again in the future, so we can win you over completely.

Loved The Wigwam! We were visiting Phoenix area for Spring Training and found the location perfect for the multiple games we were able to attend. The restaurants on site were great, especially loved Red's and their BLT with a little horseradish kick! Wigwam employees were always very pleasant and eager to please. Walking sidewalks were plentiful, but for those of us that needed a bit of help, the golf carts were a fun ride! Ready to return!!

  • Best resort in the Phoenix area

    by Smille9815 on 2017-03-21 06:49 am

We have gone to AZ for the last 6 years for Spring Training. We always go over St. Pats Day weekend and each year we have stayed at a different resort. The Wigwam is by far our favorite and this is where we will stay each year going forward. I don't want take anything away from the other resorts where we have stayed because they were very nice, but what I think set the Wigwam apart was the staff and the friendliness we experienced. The front desk ladies, the gift shop staff, the golf staff, and our new friends at Reds, we just felt the service was a tick above the resorts where we have stayed in the past. The grounds were immaculate, the pools were very nice, and there are plenty of dining options on site. In full disclosure, the room was a bit dated, but it is an older resort so it was expected. However, my wife and both said it was the most comfortable bed we have EVER slept in at any resort (all over the world)!! The suite we had was also very spacious and we were beyond happy with our accommodations. We are looking forward to our trip next year and staying at the Wigwam again!!!

  • Stayed here for Conference and Want to Return next Vacation

    by Andrew D on 2017-03-19 12:03 am

I just stayed at The Wigwam and was very pleased. Its an enjoyable and relaxing place that welcomes business conference attendees as easily as families, with a 5-start resort feeling. Its a good alternative for those of us on the East Coast who fret about being forced to vacation in early April because we have kids in school and we HAVE to take that particular week off. Unfortunately, in my experience, all of Florida is just too cold in April to enjoy time at the beach, or anything other than Walt Disney World (which is okay with me, but you just don't do that every year). If you want warmth and relaxation, Arizona is a good choice. No beach, but frankly what you probably want is a nice pool anyway. And there are things to do that on everyone's bucket list in AZ. What I like the most about the Wigwam (I don't golf) is the individual adobe-like houses with suites. That makes it very family friendly. And you can walk right out to the pool. Mine did not have a kitchen and I'm not sure if any of the buildings do. I'd check if this is important. Be aware, spring break includes early baseball in Phoenix and the prices rise on everything rise dramatically. The rental car companies will take advantage of you -- It was cheaper to take a cab out and back from PHX than to rent a car (about $80 with tip each way). Fox car rental has the best rates but you may have to stand in line for well over an hour after getting to the airport car rental center. Everyone says use Lyft or Uber instead.

The Wigwam Resort and Spa is Awesome!!! The Red Door Spa is relaxing and peaceful. You never have to leave this resort. Right next to Golf Course and close to Red's a great place for eggs benedict! Sit on the patio and watch the golf course!
