  • Old World Charm with Good Location

This majestic hotel just steps away from the Mall, Museums, shops and restaurants is still a good option in DC. The impressive lobby will transfer you back in time. The traditionally decorated bedroom was big and had all the modern amenities. The bathroom was small with one sink and a tub. Unfortunately, things were inconsistent at the hotel. We had the Nespresso machine but no bottled water or capsules for the coffee. No bottled water during turndown as well. They had only 1 pair of the plush slippers. Some of the staff were excellent while others were rude. The concierge was amazing and very knowledgable. I was there during the IMF meeting weekend and basically the crowd was all suits. My room was purchased through the company which might be at a cheaper price which would explain the lack of coffee capsules , bottled water etc... The breakfast at the hotel was pretty inconsistent as well. Service was horrible, they had gluten free toast one day and not the next! Their overpriced buffet seemed ok but since I am gluten free I could not go that route. I think the breakfast needs an overall change.

  • Perfect service, nice rooms

    by Sophie_love2travel on 2017-10-19 02:54 am

The staff is very welcoming, ready to help.
The rooms are spacious and the bed is comfortable.
The hotel is very well decorated, with beautiful flowers.
The restaurant with possibility to seat outside is very pleasant and the food is good.
What they could improve is the breakfast: it is ok, but could have more choice and could be separate from the outside cafe.

  • Past its prime

One of the iconic grand hotels of DC, we had high expectations for our stay. We were sadly disappointed. We arrived early, and our room wasn't ready. Fair enough - we decided to go have lunch, and went to leave our luggage with the bell captain, who was, if not exactly rude, curt and dismissive. When our room was finally ready, the check-in process was perfunctory - here's the key, elevator is that-a-way. No information on hotel services, restaurants, bars. The room was just average, only had one comfortable chair, and the lighting was inadequate. Bathroom was in need of an update, and there wasn't a full complement of toiletries when we arrived - had to request shampoo and lotion. The catering at our onsite meetings was fine, but we had an overpriced and uninspired buffet breakfast at Cafe du Parc, as well as an overpriced and flavorless Bloody Mary at the Round Robin Bar. On the up side, it's in a great location, walking distance to just about all of the major attractions in DC. Some of the staff were very friendly, notably the concierge, the doormen, the housekeeping staff. Others were not so much. All in all, we expected and hoped for much better in a hotel of this repute (and price point).

  • The best place to stay in DC

    by normanr821 on 2017-10-16 12:38 am

The Willard is just around the corner from the White House and only a short walk to the Washington Memorial. The Hotel staff is most accommodating and helpful with restaurant recommendations. The famous Ebits restaurant is within easy walking distance on the way to the Whitehouse. Reservations are recommended as it is very popular with some seafood specials that are hard to beat. The Hotel restaurants(outdoors on brick) are extremely adequate and would be considered destination restaurants in most US cities.
