  • Probably one of the finest Hotelss I've ever stayed

    by nancyinChicago_13 on 2018-06-24 01:48 pm

THIS is the 5th season I've stayed in Jackson Hole a day before going to a Dude Ranch. My personal great to myself was a 1 night stay At the Word. I love it and have made my reservation for next year already. The staff, outstanding, the rooms are hard to describe any other way to than works of art. The public areas are like art galleries and the food is very special. Ordered a short stack of honey wheat pancakes, ordered a third, so good. The silver dollar mercantile exchange was a real treat. could have bought all the books for young and old. The concierge writes fun mystery novels. fun reads. And dear Louise in the shop lady in duty is a treasure. If you love history and the West, this is bucket list for sure.

  • Small window into a bygone era

by sjkunman on 2018-06-21 06:33 pm

In entering the hotel you feel that you are stepping back in time. It was built in the 1940's, partially burned down in the 80's and was rebuilt. The rooms are small but adequate. Clean, neat and with USB connections. Two sinks but not much room to maneuver. The beds are high off the ground so one thing that they may consider including is a movable step that slides under the bed so that short people like my wife don't have to develop their own system of getting under the covers. Unlike 95% of the hotels in the US this one has adequate lighting. I think 4 100w bulbs over each sink. Spend some time looking at the pictures on the walls between the lobby and the restaurant and read the captions. You'll get a good idea who the family was, why the hotel was built and some of the famous entertainers who performed there. Don't miss the bar in the restaurant with over 2,000 silver dollars embedded into the surface. The food seem find and it is a patronized by locals as well as tourists. There is also a small gym with running machines and two hot tubs. I'd certainly stay there again

  • Disappointing

    by David T on 2018-06-18 03:36 pm

We came here for one night as we could not extend our stay at another hotel. We were led to believe that it would be great.

Admittedly, we got the last available room but it was over $400 for one night. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The room was next to the "maids room" and we could hear the chatter/noise. The room was small compared to the room we had in the previous hotel and the bathroom was tiny. Only one person could use the bathroom/shower at a time. Elbow room there was not! And the bed had a topper mattress! Cheapskates! Feet did not touch the carpet when sitting on the bed. Could have had a serious injury if I had fallen out during the night!

Not a place I would return to.

  • The Wort is it! Will not stay anywhere else

by tunkiemo on 2018-06-09 11:28 am

After hemming and hawing for weeks about the final night of our two-week trip through the parks, I booked a night in Wort Hotel. What a treat! With nooks and crannies filled with leather couches and chairs, the Wort is an extraordinary example of Western hospitality and a good standard for Historic Hotels of America. The people send it over the top. We were met with grace, kindness and a smile at every step. I would not hesitate to stay again or to recommend the Wort to others. In fact, my husband says he would not stay anywhere else if we returned to Jackson and wished we had an extra night there. For travelers, I signed up for I Prefer hotel rewards in advance and was pleased to get a complimentary upgrade, free wifi, early check-in and late check-out.

  • Very central location, small and intimate

    by DRS69 on 2018-06-05 07:17 pm

When you get over the initial shock of overstocked paintings of western scenes and loud carpeting, you realize that this hotel is very centrally located in town. The hotel restaurant is pretty good for breakfast where you can order your meal from a substantial menu (not self-service or "free"). This small hotel does not cater to large bus crowds which is also a huge plus. Smaller more intimate feel.
