  • Wassail Weekend December at the Woodstock Inn

by VickyBellTravel on 2017-12-12 07:43 am

Woodstock Inn Vermont is the top Hotel for the Wassail Weekend in December . We have stayed there many years for this special event and always wonder why we don't visit more often. The rooms are traditional and large, the restaurant is ery good for breakfast and dinner. The staff so very friendly and well trained. The bar a gathering place for drink and dining especially after the days events. Things to do at the Wassail weekend: House Tour, the "10" Christmas concert at the Congregation Church, the 2 o clock Parade of riders on horses beautifully dressed in Victorian garb, wagons filled with carolers, and Santa. And forget a visit to Gillingham's for a purchase of local maple syrup and Vermont cheese.

The Woodstock Inn was a splurge that satisfied in every way!

Before the Stay: When we booked our trip we were initially only able to book for Saturday and Sunday nights of the long weekend. Upon calling the front desk, they were very accommodating and we able to extend our reservation - which was a big pleaser before we even got there!

Service: We were blown away by the kindness and helpfulness of the entire staff at the Woodstock Inn. Staff made an effort to make a connection with all the guests and went out of their way to make us feel at home. In particular, we appreciated all the efforts from the concierge who set us up with reservations at various restaurants in town. Our favorite was a new spot called Mangalista!

Room: Our room was in the main house of the inn. Though the room was not huge, it comfortably fit the king bed, a desk, and two arm chairs on either side of the window. Overall it had a very cozy rustic vibe

Spa: There is a beautiful spa at the inn. We chose to purchase two day passes and got access to the various amenities (steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, private relaxation areas, locker rooms). The pool was closed during our stay (mid October), but the weather was in the mid-70s and made for a great chance to use the outdoor spa areas and lounge in the sun.

Other Fun: The basement arcade had many games (pinball, chess, checkers, boardgames, pool) and we were able to hang out there with a drink after dinner. Our other favorite feature was the daily "Cookies and Tea" at 4pm. Everyday we would find ourselves in the sunroom enjoying the delicious treats -- we recommend the oatmeal raisin!

Overall, I can't say enough good things about our stay at the Woodstock Inn. It is a little pricey, but we felt it was worth it for the great level of service and the location right in the heart of the adorable town.

Thanks for choosing The Woodstock Inn & Resort for your autumn getaway a few weeks ago and sharing the very complimentary and thorough review.

We're glad you enjoyed the village with its friendly and easily walkable shops, cafes, and restaurants, a warm welcome from our terrific team, and of course some rewarding down time in The Spa!

I hope you'll visit again soon and will be able to fit in more of our unforgettable experiences, whether more (New England Falconry; The Nordic Center, Suicide Six, etc...) or perhaps a more relaxing couples' massage in The Spa's Natural Gatherings Suite, complete with woodstove and hinoki wood soaking tub!

Thanks again for visiting, and we look forward to many, many more!

    With holiday cheer-

Thank you for choosing us for your recent getaway- time is a very valuable commodity these days and we are honored both that you entrusted us with your valuable leisure time, and that the whole experience was every bit as rewarding and memorable as you'd hoped!

Woodstock really is a special community and we are lucky to be so close that everything is within easy walking distance, yet just far enough removed that we certainly don't feel like an "in-town" property!

The next time you visit I hope you'll have the time and energy to experience some of our terrific recreational opportunities... or not! It's also a great spot to just curl up in front of the fireplace with a hot drink and a good book, and wile away the weekend!

Please do visit our web site to join our mailing list so we can keep you informed about all our activites, packages, and specials throughout the year!

    Yours very truly,

  • Best Spa

    by 554kristinf on 2017-12-06 03:41 am

The Woodstock Inn offers a wonderfully relaxing setting for couples or families. The Spa (for adults) is the best part of my stay there. Its a treat, but so worth it. I would highly recommend eating in the Inn's restaurant. The food is great and the casual atmosphere is good for families. Don't forget to go down stairs to the game room. No video games which I love, but the kids love it.

  • Classy

    by Matthew R on 2017-12-05 05:23 pm

My fiancee and I absolutely love this place. The Inn was decorated beautifully for the Holiday season. It just screams New England the minute you walk in. Big over sized fire places, wood floors, friendly faces and flannel.....lots of flannel! They don't do anything well, they do everything extraordinary. The staff is so incredible every step of the way. If you don't feel like heading into town to eat the restaurants are great. They have everything you need. We love the town of Woodstock too. Wonderful place especially for a romantic getaway. My only complaint......no snow yet.
