Itinerary

Day 1: Hotel Stay - Louisville, KY
Enjoy a one-night luxury hotel stay in Louisville before boarding the American Queen Steamboat the following day.

Day 2: Embark - Jeffersonville, IN
Embark the American Queen Steamboat and kick off the start of the journey with a festive Welcome Aboard Dinner.

Day 3: Brandenburg, KY
Just 40 miles south of Louisville, Brandenburg named after Colonel Solomon Brandenburg and became incorporated in 1825. Explore the Patton Museum of Leadership, which is among the largest in the Army Museum System, to learn about the armor and cavalry through vast displays of equipment, weapons, and other memorabilia covering periods in time from 1550 BCE to present day.

Day 4: Owensboro, KY
Enter the exciting world of Owensboro where culture, art, history, and adventure collide at the International Bluegrass Music Museum. From there, learn about the region's cultural and natural history at the Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History or American, European, and Asian fine arts at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. For a spectacular display of flowers and fauna, explore the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden for a 8.3 acres walking tour.

Day 5: Henderson, KY
Henderson exhibits the best qualities of an historic southern river town: a flourishing community, thriving downtown, historic turn-of-the-century mansions overlooking the river, and a recently renovated riverfront. Home to famed naturalist John James Audubon, the town celebrates his famous bird paintings with eight bronze bird statues throughout the city.

Day 6: Paducah, KY
Known as the city of art, rhythm, and rivers, Paducah is a lovely city boasting 19th century architecture, specialty shops, and one-of-a-kind eateries. Once aboard the hop on-hop off deluxe Steamcoach, guests will stop at various cultural and historic attractions, many dedicated to preserving the heritage of the river, railroad and highlights of western Kentucky role in the War Between the States. Tour stops include the National Quilt Museum, the River Discovery Center, Paducah Railroad Museum, Paducah Civil War, and William Clark Market House Museum, which narrates the history of Paducah’s growth.

Day 7: Dover, TN
Explore the vibrant history of Dover with visits though Fort Donelson National Battlefied and National Cemetery and learn of the city's importance during the Civil War, controlling access to the Cumberland River supply route. The capture of Fort Donelson by Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant was a major victory for the Union Army, and Grant’s first step toward gaining the fame that would eventually lead him to command the entire Union Army. The Dover Hotel still stands just as it did when General Buckner surrendered his Confederate forces to Grant there on February 16, 1862.

Day 8: Clarksville, TN
Named after hero of the Revolutionary War General George Rogers Clark, Clarksville is a great homage to veterans and historic sights, including headquarters of the 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell. The 101st has been praised most for their role in major military campaigns during World War II, which were documented in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center highlights local history as well as science and art.

Day 9: Disembark - Nashville, TN
After breakfast, enjoy the offerings of the Music City before heading home.
