Historic Hotels of America® Kicks-Off 2011 with 39 New Members

WASHINGTON, DC – January 19, 2011 – Historic Hotels of America® is pleased to announce the largest boost in membership since its founding 21 years ago. Of the more than 130 nominees and applicants this past year, Historic Hotels of America is kicking off 2011 with 39 new historic hotels, resorts, and inns across 23 states. These newcomers are among the more than 235 members throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands that are recognized by Historic Hotels of America for preserving and maintaining their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance.

“Historic Hotels of America continues to grow at an impressive rate and each of these 39 extraordinary new members enhances our distinguished portfolio,” said Thierry Roch, Executive Director of Historic Hotels of America. “This tremendous growth illustrates our goal to bring these historically significant hotels and their authentic experiences to the growing culture and heritage travel market. Each of our unique new members showcases its own rich history and encourages the value of historic preservation.”

To be selected for membership in the National Trust Historic Hotels, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance and have faithfully maintained its historically integrity, architecture and ambiance.

Historic Hotels of America welcomed the following 39 new members to its growing collection of renowned hotels. From the quant 21-room Settlers Inn at Bingham Park in Hawley, Pennsylvania to the famous 551-room Omni Parker House in Boston, this year’s new members all exemplify the exceptional range of offerings for which Historic Hotels of America members are known.
