Inn at Price Tower Is Selected Into Historic Hotels of America®

Decemeber 19, 2013 (Bartlesville, Okla.) – Inn at Price Tower in downtown Bartlesville, Okla. is pleased to announce it is induction into Historic Hotels of America®, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Inn at Price Tower is one of four hotels in Oklahoma including Colcord Hotel, Skirvin Hilton and The Atherton Hotel at Oklahoma State University; and more than 250 hotels and resorts throughout the country. These sites are recognized by Historic Hotels of America for preserving and maintaining its historic integrity, architecture, and ambiance.

“This designation, along with Price Tower’s World Heritage nomination will produce additional international and national tourism travel to our community,” said Timothy Boruff, executive director. “This selection also continues the validation of Price Tower being one of Oklahoma’s most significant cultural and historically relevant buildings. I am excited for Bartlesville. The opportunity for visitors to spend their stay in a Historic Hotel of America location as well as a pending World Heritage site is an unprecedented experience.”

To be selected for membership in Historic Hotels of America, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance.

Inn at Price Tower is rich in history and architectural integrity. An intimate hotel with 19 guestrooms and occupies seven of the upper floors of famed mid-century architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s only skyscraper, Price Tower. Like Edgar Allan Poe’s “dream within a dream,” the Price Tower experience is “art within art” – a tapestry of remarkable architecture, art, and design set within the masterpiece. An architectural beacon towering above the American prairie, this National Historical Landmark and World Heritage Nominee draws audiences from around the world to explore its rich history, dynamic exhibitions and collections of art, and elegant hospitality. Inside its cantilevered and copper-patina stories, guests will interact with Wright in concert with nature’s influences. Acclaimed modern architect of New York, Wendy Evans Joseph, updated the meticulously detailed and graciously appointed Inn guestrooms. At the Inn, guests can enjoy the complimentary historic tower tour and access to the Arts Center exhibition spaces.

“We are delighted to induct Inn at Price Tower, a traditional, converted hotel built in 1956 and renovated in 2003 to Historic Hotels of America,” said Lawrence Horwitz, executive director of Historic Hotels Worldwide. “We welcome Tim Boruff and leadership team into this prestigious collection.”

Inn at Price Tower, located at 510 Dewey Avenue, is available for reservations year round by calling 1-877-424-2424.
