Title: National Trust Historic Hotels of America Announces Winner of 'Submit an RFP' Promotion
Release Date: 2007-03-13

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 13, 2007–Bill Tanner, administrative associate, at AARP in Washington, D.C., was the winner of the Historic Hotels of America “Submit an RFP” promotion. Tanner submitted an RFP for a board retreat in June of 2007. Those submitting an RFP via the Historic Hotels of America website were eligible to win a two-night getaway to any member of Historic Hotels of America. Among other destinations, Tanner is considering a getaway to Savannah, Ga.

Historic Hotels of America continues to showcase its enhanced “Meetings and Events” section of its website. The enhancements included the ability to search by destination, number of guest rooms and number of attendees; the addition of an extensive listing of value dates; and the ability for planners to attach their own request for proposal (R.F.P.) rather than completing an online form. Visit http://www.historichotels.org/meetings_events.

Promotion of the website will again be supported by an advertising campaign in 13 national and regional meetings-related print publications and websites as well as at a dozen industry trade shows. To view the “Meetings That Inspire” print advertisement, click here.

The advertisement showcases the inspiring meeting locations and experiences available through Historic Hotels of America. This includes everything from stunning historic ballrooms to intimate settings ideal for corporate retreats as well as the opportunity for meeting attendees to enjoy relaxing spas, challenging golf courses, fine dining and more.

“The variety of meeting RFPs received during the promotion reflects the diversity of Historic Hotels of America and our members’ meeting capabilities,” said Michael Di Rienzo, director of sales and advertising for Historic Hotels of America. “Meeting planners are often surprised to learn that Historic Hotels of America members feature a wide variety of meeting facilities ranging from hotels with 8 or 1,600 guest rooms and meeting space for an executive board meeting or a large conference needing up to 100,000 square feet of meeting space.”

Historic Hotels of America is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Historic Hotels has identified more than 200 hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance. To be selected for this prestigious program, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized as having historic significance. A directory of member hotels can be purchased for $4.00 by sending a check to National Trust Historic Hotels of America, P.O. Box 320, Washington, D.C. 20055-0320. Rooms at any of the member hotels can be reserved by calling 800-678-8946 or at www.historichotels.org. Historic Hotels of America is aligned with Historic Hotels of Europe, a federation of 16 European hotel associations in 16 countries, and with Historic Hotels of Mexico, an association of hotels and restaurants located in buildings of historical significance including haciendas, palaces, monasteries, convents, fortresses, country estates and more.
