Day 1: Hotel Stay - St. Louis, MO
Enjoy a one-night luxury hotel stay in St. Louis before boarding the American Queen Steamboat the following day.

Day 2: Embark - St. Louis, MO
Enjoy freetime in St. Louis before boarding the American Queen Steamboat. Spend the day exploring the town, perhaps with a visit to the Gateway Arch. A Welcome Aboard Dinner will begin the journey with a festive start.

Day 3: River Cruising
Relax and take in the view of the river, mingle with new friends, or join in a variety of onboard activities while the American Queen glides through beautiful American landscape.

Day 4: Hannibal, MO
Guests will board the Twainland Express for a guided tour exploring the Hannibal of Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. As the town that inspired the author, Hannibal celebrates the life of the Mark Twain with Mark Twain Boyhood House & Museum, the Justice of Peace, the courtroom setting used for trial in Tom Sawyer’s story, and the Becky Thatcher House, home of Tom Sawyer’s first sweetheart. The tour includes a stroll through the Museum Complex, the famous Cave, and scenes from famous tales of the writer. Exclusive wine and free tastings can be enjoyed at the Mark Twain Winery while the Huck Finn Shopping Center will delight shoppers.

Day 5: Fort Madison, IA
The city of Fort Madison was established around the site of the historic Fort Madison (1808–1813), which was the first permanent U.S. military fortification on the Upper Mississippi. Discover the unusual blend of culture and natural beauty that makes Fort Madison unique. Visit Old Fort Madison, North Lee County Historical Center Museum or the Fort Madison Art Center.

Day 6: River Cruising
Originating in Lake Itasca, the Great Waters of the majestic Mississippi river system afford a beautiful backdrop for onboard activities and relaxing on this day of steamboating.

Day 7: Grafton, IL
Founded in 1832, Grafton is the oldest city in Jersey County. The tour of this historic town begins in the Harbor & Marine Area before continuing on to Iron Décor N More at the next stop. At this unique location, browse the handmade iron works and shop for distinctive works of art to take home. Next stop is the Pere Marquette State Park, a 8,000-acre nature-lover's paradise. The final stop is the Shopping Mecca of the town where you can search for that perfect memento of their trip. Also here is the historic Ruebel Hotel. Originally built in 1884, the Ruebel Hotel was the largest hotel in the area.

Day 8: Alton, IL
Known for its limestone bluffs along the river north of the city, Alton is a picturesque town who played a significant role preceding and during the American Civil War. It was the site of the last Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas debate in October 1858. Due to its claimed haunted hot spots, such as McPike Mansion and other structures, Alton has been named "The most haunted city in America" by paranormal enthusiasts. The former state penitentiary was used during the war to hold up to 12,000 Confederate prisoners of war and most of the structures were built on foundations of stone taken from the former Civil War prison after it was abandoned.

Day 9: Disembark - St. Louis, MO
After breakfast, the iconic St. Louis’ Gateway Arch will mark the end of the journey.
