  • Absolute diasater, when it comes to guest handling

    by Quest35020026133 on 2019-06-17 01:03 pm

Had to pay for two nights, that I did not use, just because the hotel did not want to be a bit flexible. All this when they were ripping me off with a tariff that far exceeded the rates on which the hotel was available on internet. An absolutely great example has been set by the manager of this hotel on my last day of stay.

  • Excellent location, ok room

    by Andie_Grace on 2019-06-15 11:19 am

The exterior of this building is beautiful, and the room we had faced the Old State House which was nice. They appeared to have updated this hotel 5-10 years ago, as the room had a transitional feel to it with hardwood and marble tile floors. But it clearly needed refreshing. The bed frame was fabric, and was worn down to the color underneath. The nightstand had chips in it, and so did the tub. The shower and tub were generally nice, the shower had excellent water pressure which seems to be a rarity with hotels these days. (We ladies just want to wash our hair properly!) It clearly needed a deep clean to get rid of calcium/lime deposits because the spray was crooked and we got the bathroom floor wet every use because of it. There didn't seem to be a working bathroom fan, and because this was an old building the windows couldn't be opened. So we steamed up the whole room every time someone showered. The room was once beautiful I'm sure, with a high ceiling, hardwood, and floor to ceiling curtains, but felt like it hadn't been maintained well for a while. We expected some age, with it being an old building, so street noise was expected. But not fixing things like chips in the tub and worn out bed frames seems a bit neglectful. We loved the location of this hotel being right on the freedom trail and so close to little Italy as well as the park. The subway was also just a block away, which was really convenient. The staff was polite and helpful when we asked how to get somewhere, as well as opening the doors for us and greeting us upon entry and exit. I would recommend someone stay here based on location, and the price was decent. But I would also say not to expect a pristine hotel.

  • Amazing location and wonderful breakfast

    by 386imtiaza on 2019-06-12 01:47 pm

Perfect location if you want to explore historic Boston and want to save time.
The Freedom Trail is less than two minutes of walk from the hotel. Faneuil Hall is about 7 minutes walk from the hotel.
You can also visit the first public school site within 10 minutes of walk from the hotel.
I also enjoyed breakfast room and the food food. The sitting area was really nice and clean. Additionally the staff was very helpful and professional in the breakfast room.
    Totally enjoyed my stay.

Note: rooms are smaller than you would like but it didn't bother me

  • Perfect Location for Vacationers

    by E7613EDjohnp on 2019-06-09 11:29 am

My wife and I stayed four nights at the Ames Boston Hotel in June 2019. This hotel is in the heart of the Freedom Trail, less than 10 minutes walk to Faneuil Hall or to Boston Common. We had a corner room on the top (15th) floor, and the views were fantastic. The room was pricey, but I wanted this trip to be especially memorable for my wife, and the room was part of that.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, although the concierge gave us a poor restaurant recommendation for dinner in the North End. Dinner at that restaurant was ok but not representative of the quality of food the North End is known for and not nearly what I have experienced at other restaurants in that area.

Breakfast was not included but we ate there every day anyway. It was pretty basic but very satisfying (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, cold cereals, pastries, yogurts, and fresh fruit). At other times this area was a sitting area only.

One of the cool things about the hotel is that it isn't made with steel, at least, according to a plaque on an outside wall. Rather, it has masonry walls that are 9 FEET thick. We felt that in the feel of simply walking around our room. Everything felt very solid, with no creaking floors and hardly any noise from adjacent rooms. We could feel the subway a little, but it wasn't bothersome at all.

The fitness center was very functional and I used it three out of four mornings there. Two treadmills, two ellipticals although one appeared out of order, a bike, a rowing machine, and a stepper were the cardio options. There were also free weights, balance boards, medicine balls, and a universal weight machine.

I would definitely consider staying here again on future trips to Boston.

  • Nice hotel, great room

    by ajp9000 on 2019-06-04 08:42 am

Stayed three nights, no complaints, maybe a little expensive. Staff were friendly, gym was decent enough, no restaurant, but breakfast available for $18, but we went out for breakfast as plenty of good places close by.
