  • Excellent location, clean, crisp rooms

    by Ken P on 2019-08-13 12:23 am

You can't beat the location being in the center of everything and the fact you can walk across the street to the subway at State! Easy from Boston Airport. Walked from here to Boston Commons, the new Seaport Area and of course Quincy Market and the North End. The room I got was large, quiet and very stylish. Loved the shower and bathroom area. Never felt cramped. The gym is small but adequate (Peleton Bike!). The breakfast in the restaurant was very pedestrian and not worth it unless it was part of the elite benefit. I found some good options steps away.

  • Outstanding location and above-average experience

    by SFO_intl on 2019-08-13 10:33 am

When I booked this hotel I did so because it's part of the Hilton portfolio and had a rate that was in my range for my travel dates. I didn't pay a ton of attention to the location but as it turns out...the Ames has an OUTSTANDING location. It's central to everything in Boston.

The building itself is beautiful and the opulent mosaic ceiling in the lobby is a cool bit of Boston history. I ended up in one of the corner king rooms. I was amazed at the room - exceptional and spacious with tons of natural light.

Breakfast on-site is a simple continental affair with a few warm items (eggs, bacon) but sufficient. Self-serve coffee and tea all day is a nice added bonus.

Overall I was quite pleased with the concept and overall experience at the Ames. I would definitely return.

  • Unbelievable service - amazing team

    by marialk2015 on 2019-08-12 02:29 pm

We stay in a lot of hotels all around the world and we're delighted with the standard of this hotel. To give you the basics first, it's a great location, right in the center of Boston, right on the doorstep of the historic, business and shopping districts. The welcome was very friendly, check in and out were very pleasant and easy. The rooms were modern, spacious, bright, airy and spotless. And it was the housekeeping team and concierge that saved us from our nightmare. We were traveling as a family and one of our daughters left her most precious possession in the world in the room. Her stuffed toy. We realized he was missing when we got to the airport but we were about to board our international flight home. Our daughter was devastated and wanted to stay to find him. When we rang the hotel they understood. Over the next few days we liaised with the concierge and amazing housekeeping team (who talked to us as they searched the room over and over again). Even when he wasn't anywhere to be seen they didn't give up. They eliminated all possibilities and he was eventually found by the laundry company they use. My daughter got him back today and is still crying - but this time it's tears of joy. To Ames (and in particular David and Ana) - thank you. Your idea of customer service is the platinum service level other hotels dream of. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • Very Good Hotel with Excellent Location

    by Sal_Paradise767 on 2019-08-11 12:40 am

    Stay Report - 8/9 - 8/11

Location: Really well located if you're going to be touring Boston. It's across the street from the Old State House and Boston Massacre Site which puts it two blocks from Government Center and its T station and one block from State's T Station which means you're three blocks from 3/4 T lines. The aquarium and the wharf are a ten minute walk away and you can get to Park Street, Boston Common etc. in about the same amount of time. There's a CVS a block away and a number of places to eat and drink too.

Hotel: The building is a very well preserved high rise, it was built in 1889 and was once Boston's tallest building. It's been a hotel since 2009. Because it's old everything in it is fairly small. The lobby is tiny and has a very small breakfast area just off it which has 24 hour coffee. There are two very small elevators as well though thankfully there were never any long waits for them.

Check In: You never know how staff at Curios will react to Diamonds but everyone I dealt with here was very friendly. I was thanked for being Diamond, told about breakfast and the hotel amenities and that I had been upgraded from a queen to a king deluxe.

Room: The room didn't feel small at first but a long corridor which leads to the bedroom ate up most of the space. The bedroom itself is pretty small with a really low bed. There was also a desk area, outlets next to the bed, large TV, a minibar (something I don't see much at hotels anymore) and a nice bathroom with a good shower and Molten Brown products.

Breakfast: The same thing both days I was here. Scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, breakfast potatoes, breads, pastries and cold cereal. Breakfast is $15 per person for non Golds/Diamonds.

I was lucky enough to get this hotel for about $250/night. Due to its location I would gladly be back. I also had a complaint free stay and enjoyed my room.
