  • Lovely Visit

by jlgcats on 2020-02-04 03:22 pm

We just stayed at Antrim and had a lovely time. We stayed in the Amelia Room and it was very nice. Housekeeping very thorough. Breakfast was terrific and special thank you to Linda who took care of us at breakfast. She is a gem. Tea served in the afternoon was nice. Lovely sandwiches and scones. Dinner in Smokehouse restaurant was wonderful. Greg and Jeff were very attentive and the food was great. Front desk staff very nice too. Thanks to all for a lovely time.

  • Mini honeymoon

    by jeanmU5855FZ on 2019-12-10 05:46 pm

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. We checked in and were greeted by friendly staff from the greeter, the front desk and the Pub bartender.
We had a 7 pm wine-pairing dinner reservation. We enjoyed appetizers and a before-dinner cocktail then were escorted into dinner. Service was excellent, menu choices broad, food prepared as ordered and hot. Wines served by Sara our Sommelier. Sara explained each wine. Delightful. This was all so nice even with a wedding and reception occurring in another area during the evening. Country breakfast in the morning hot and delicious and pleasantly served by Linda, a friendly waitress with a smile for us and a bit of history.
Especially enjoyed the extraordinary Christmas decorations. We will visit again and certainly over Christmas season.

  • Inn and restaurant have very different service levels

    by Patrick C on 2019-12-08 10:28 am

This review needs to be split into two parts because of the extreme difference in quality between the dinner restaurant and the Inn.
Rating for the Inn (2 stars). The Inn is a beautiful place, unfortunately the level of service is poor. It start from check-in and continued. Here are a few of the problems we experienced, Check-in: told wrong place for tea, Shown to room: not told how to turn fireplace on (I called the front desk and was never called back and was never able to use fireplace), Afternoon tea: cold water for tea, no water for tea, biscuits ran out, no service at tea, Bar: no bartender because they were at a wedding on site (never could buy a drink), Breakfast: the waiter had to be asked a number of times for coffee, eggs had been under a heat lamp for so long they were fused to the plate (the poor table next to us came in before us and still had no food when we were leaving). The service staff is friendly but has had no training.
Rating for the dinner restaurant (4 stars). The food was very good and so was the service. They have an excellent wine list. There was a warm fire in the fireplace. We had an enjoyable evening.
My recommendation would be to go have a nice dinner and walk around the beautiful Inn and find another place to spend the night.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your visit. Understandably, this is very disappointing to us as this is definitely not the level of service that we strive to provide our guests. I would be very interested in having further conversation with you about your stay. At your convenience, would you mind reaching out to me directly at 410-756-6812? I look forward to speaking with you.

  • "Forsooth, this be the place of yore."

    by nefertari_13 on 2019-09-17 03:22 pm

Forget the doldrums of glitz and easy adverts. Tie your steed near these lofty gates, come in and greet your hosts. You will be treated like an earl and she a countess as bits and pieces they offer tickle you tastes and good drink run warmth and fancy to your soul. Then you will be escorted with a long forgotten pomp to a table where delectable fares for your tongue and belly will be offered. Ah, yes, the music of course - Chopin, Bach, Strauss will charm the ear, and you will forget your advertised life in an ambience you will take for a castle with its ancient aroma, but with all the modern amenities. Delectable food made by the hands of a master comes on a prefixed menu its titillating tastes as well as names that to an average consumer might sound strange; Steak Tartare with quail egg, Roquefort ice cream, micro greens, Monkfish, with saffron & fennel broth, wheat berry and Artisan Cheese Slate, maytag blue, la tur, morbier, to name a few. Of course you may not remember all these names (oh you petulant French) but their taste will linger with for days. This may cost more than a few coppers, but then it is not a king's ransom and you deserve to feel at least like a baron and a baroness. By the way, your steed, whether a four or a six cylinder heart, will have plenty of room to be stabled and will easily pass onto a road you will be sure to remember for the return to this wonderful place.

  • Unique, Relaxing and Lots of Quiet Fun

by speninosmith on 2019-09-12 05:09 am

This hotel is comprised of a central mansion and ten other surrounding homes/out-buildings that have been converted into a single hotel space....all the time preserving a 19th century ambiance. In all my years of travel, this was a first. If one likes everything cookie cutter standard or if one does not appreciate antiques, this is not up your alley. But, if one likes comfort combined with unique, Antrim 1844 is worth a try and the pool is great. Oh yes, the associated restaurant is also quite good.
