  • Wonderful Hotel WithBlend of the Old and New

    by Bob R on 2019-05-23 07:08 am

The Blackburn Inn is a wonderful blend of old architecture combined with modern conveniences including marbled bath and modern furnishings. The staff was warm and friendly throughout our stay. We decided to have drinks on the veranda, providing a beautiful view of the hotel front. We decided to have dinner at the hotel's bistro and the food was delicious. The rooms are well furnished with all the amenities, including Keurig coffee maker, small refrigerator, drawer safe, hair dryer, and flat screen tv. A beautiful spiral staircase on the 4th floor takes you into a cupola and out onto the hotel's roof for a wonderful view of the grounds and surrounding Staunton.
We definitely recommend a trip to the Blackburn Inn during your next visit to Staunton.

  • Modern, updated, unique old building

by MDcomment on 2019-05-17 04:40 pm

Unique boutique hotel with an interesting history. Rooms are very comfortable and chic modern, but a tad small unless you go for the suites. That's to be expected since the building dates back to the 1800's. Personnel are super friendly and a great, healthy breakfast is included. Thanks for a unique stay.

  • Interesting

This huge building has been an 'insane asylum' and a prison. It has very high ceilings and very minimalist design which makes it a little austere and echoey. Our room 204 had a balcony with seating that other guests could use outside all the windows which may have been odd if we had been there in the day. It was very clean and the bathroom had the first proper powerful shower we have come across in this trip to the States. Staunton is an interesting little arty town with some nice restaurants and the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Museum if you need more Presidential activities after visiting the great Monticello which isn't far away.

  • Nice hotel, good food!

    by amandaeb1124 on 2019-04-25 04:04 am

The hotel is very cool. It's a very old building that they remodeled into a hotel. They've done a pretty good job at remodeling (beautiful bathrooms!!) but still incorporating the old historic elements. That being said, if you want a hotel that feels completely brand new, this is not it. The floors creak, the stairs are steep, etc. The grounds are very beautiful. Staff was very friendly! The food was very very good. I just wish breakfast (at least on the weekends) would have been open a little longer. It closed at 10 and by the time we got down there at 9:50, everything was pretty much gone so we settled for a couple yogurts and the last piece of toast. Nice that it was included though. Overall would stay here again!

  • Relaxing Boutique Experience - Not your franchise hotel

    by ehg2018 on 2019-04-23 06:36 pm

Renovated asylum resulting in clean, modern hotel rooms with a European flavor. A modest bar/bistro provides a relaxing view of well manicured grounds over beverages and appetizers in the afternoon and evening. The dinner menu is a bit limited but other restaurants with more extensive menus are near by. Breakfast is included with hard boiled eggs, deli meats, assorted cheeses, pastries, yogurt and granola available. Helpful courteous staff. Easy walk (0.3 miles) to the historic downtown.
