  • Interesting Inn

    by Me H on 2019-11-15 00:54 am

Interesting place. I wish there was photos and facts about the history of the building. Many buildings on site were still in disrepair and unused. The Inn was clean and quiet. Has free WiFi and parking. The "cosy" Queen room was small, but has a big bathroom. The rain shower head wasn't very powerful and oddly placed. The bathroom floor got wet when you opened the shower door. Shower had wash and shampoo and conditioner. Sink faucet was not over the sink enough so around the handles became too wet. Towels were large and thick. Took a while to cool down the room, heat worked too well. A space between the bedroom and bathroom had a sitting bench with a small side table, the coffee machine, no tea, a phone, and small refrigerator .Asked at front desk and was given tea bags. A continental breakfast was served from 7-10 am. Was there about 7:15 and there was a decent selection, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, hard boiled eggs, cold cereal, English muffins, ham and cheeses, yogurt, and chocolate and plain croissants. Food was in a small room next to where the tables and coffee were. Too much light came in around the bedroom door. Hallways were wide, but glass doors were added on the ends, not sure why. Had to go through 2 glass doors to get to our room. Has an elevator up to the third floor. From there you can walk up a spiral staircase and look out from the roof. Asked the front desk about a cemetery on property. She couldn't tell us where it was. We just walked around and met a man who lived in the condo next door to the Inn. He told us a bit about the property and where the cemetery was. It is behind all the buildings up on a hill. So many unmarked graves.

  • Blackburn is Worth a Visit

    by vicki e on 2019-11-14 03:38 pm

We enjoyed the stay at the Blackburn. It is within walking distance to local restaurants. The building is intriguing and beautiful.

We stayed on an off night and the motel was not filled. There was construction directly in front of our door beginning at 7:00 AM. The crew was noisy and climbing into the attic above our room. Not sure why the motel did not have us stay on the other side of the building to avoid the early wake-up on our vacation.

  • Interesting and unique hotel

    by tiredof4walls on 2019-11-13 04:40 pm

My son and I stayed here on our way back from college tours in SW Virginia . I really like how they have turned a very historic building into a very slick hotel.

The designers kept the original doors and baseboards but added fresh clean paint and walls. The stylized light fixtures, bath fixtures and furniture really make this place fresh and hip.

The cute restaurant served very tasty food but not too pricey. The lasagna was a perfect proportion- not grossly huge. The breakfast, which was included, was simple but elegant. Great pastries. The staff in the restaurant was lovely and friendly -both dinner and breakfast.

I would give them 5 stars but the room was very small for an adult and a 15 year old. The bathrooms provide very little sound privacy so be prepared if you are traveling with someone you don't know well. Very intimate noise level without a fan .

    Overall a hidden gem.

  • This place is an overpriced rip off.

    by subrosa3girl on 2019-11-13 01:48 pm

Don't stay in Room 317. Our "quiet" room was right above the "restaurant". It was noisy from opening to closing time.

We told them it would be our wedding night and had asked for a quiet room on the top floor. We got neither!!

This hotel is a complete ripoff. $240 a night!!! And the audacity to charge a $10 resort fee!?!? It's not a resort by any stretch of the imagination. What part was a resort, I'd like to know. This place doesn't even have a real restaurant! Are you kidding?!?!?

  • Wonderful Stay

My wife and two pets and I stayed at the Blackburn Inn. Despite its history, it was a wonderful luxurious stay that accommodated pets. I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Staunton. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is phenomenal.
