  • Never judge a book by its cover...

    by Sarah F on 2018-09-23 07:48 am

My heart did sink a little when we pulled up in our taxi. Situated on a busy road, the red paint work, umbrellas and canopy weren't as vibrant compared to the pictures, there is a slight damp smell as you first walk in and the red carpet stained. HOWEVER, we were greeted warmly by Estefania who offered us a welcome glass of fizz & check us in efficiently with a huge smile, as we made our way to our room Estefania told us - "this is your home now, enjoy and treat it as if you would your home" & I felt 100% happier about our choice of hotel.

I agree with some of the other reviews, the bedrooms aren't huge and the bath is shallow so forget about taking a luxurious bath..... BUT our room was very clean, the bed extremely comfortable with crisp white linen. Best of all is that you can turn off the air con & use the ceiling fan in the evening. Plus the sea is so warm - who needs a bath!

We didn't miss having a pool (BTW this hotel isn't for you if you want pool party atmosphere with pumping music) - we embraced the beach, always lovely attentive staff to organise your loungers and umbrellas.

We didn't eat in the restaurant - but we did enjoy a few light bites late afternoon before heading out - Tamara was super lovely to chat too - friendly, knowledgable and made us feel very welcome.

We made use of the hotel roof terrace, we'd take up drinks and admire the view - there's not much going on up there, but its nice to have a roof terrace option.

The highlight of this hotel for me is the lounge, it's beautiful, Full of quirky art, books and tropical decor and colour. It's a calm oasis away from the buzz and heat of Miami.

Would we stay again....? absolutely! I loved seeing the friendly faces each day, the same staff, guests greeted each other warmly and no matter what your first impressions were, we all knew we'd found something a little special.

  • 3* at best

by OKyraO on 2018-09-20 11:53 am

I have to disagree with the 4* rating as it's really misleading. Whilst there are lovely elements to this hotel, it's authentic, cute and well located, there are more cons than pros unfortunately. As many other reviews mention, the first thing that greets you is the damp/strange smell as you enter. Our room was tiny (as in you can't open cupboards without hitting the bed) and they are SO dark. Definitely need more lighting. The shower was a dribble and the air con so noisy. As others have also mentioned there's no pool or parking so add on an extra $50 a day to get beds on the beach and $45 a day to park opposite. The room service prices are extortionate and sadly there was never anyone eating in the restaurant so no atmosphere meaning we never tried the food.

  • Lovely weekend get-away!

by riversidesherry on 2018-09-12 01:30 pm

Hubby's big birthday so we chose this lovely intimate historic boutique hotel for our get-away celebration. Four poster bed, lovely d?cor, live music, roof garden and wonderful staff were just some of the highlights.Their gourmet chef made meal time extraordinary and every dish delicious. Valet service so we didn't worry about parking or using our car.Used Lyft drivers for getting around area. Short walk to beach with complimentary beach chairs. Staff spoiled us with extra attention because of special occasion. Kudos to Estephanie and David! We will definitely recommend this hospitality gem!!

  • Totally impressed!! Love this place!!!!!!!!!!

    by n00dlest00 on 2018-09-11 06:46 pm

After a beautiful day at the spa at The Faena hotel we decided to stay overnight but they were booked so we booked into Casa Faena (across the street). Everything about this place was beautiful, welcoming and comfortable. Hanging out at the bar they were definitely a little busy and probably should I had a few more servers on but the general manager Armando Payton stepped in and started working with the servers and that was great to see. Being that I have been in this industry for over 30 years I notice everything and it was awesome to see such team work
I also must definitely make mention of Stef the girl that greeted us and checked us in, She was so welcoming and sweet! Then there was the girl that checked us out another gem!!!! Lianet was so sweet and refreshing to speak with. When I tell you First class service, so professional and so welcoming they wanted us to feel like their home was our home and boy did we. It was truly a treat and we will be back often as we are locals and do many staycations! It was a Pleasant surprise ! Very impressed with this hotel and the team!

  • Disappointing

    by Jacqueline B on 2018-08-18 05:39 am

We were first given the wrong room but this was quickly rectified. We paid for an Oceanfront Californian King but the room is a huge disappointment. The terrace is literally less than a foot wide and the room (39) absolutely stinks of damp. Generally it is shabby, with dirty curtains and the bathroom door doesn't even shut.
