a good basic mexican restaurant on 3rd (A1A) good prices for food and drinks. looked like a local place. We had a combo plate and it was enough food for dinner. Many families . walking distance from any place between 18th and 30th.

  • Historical Happiness

I had an adorable antique queen bed with ocean view, and it included a large closet, nice bathroom and an additional sitting area with sofa and extra chair. Also a small refrigerator that comes in handy. I loved that it also had a ceiling fan, two sinks, and a few other nice touches that gave it that 'homey' feel even though it's a hotel. Travelers should understand that this is on the official Historical Hotels of America list so not your typical beach hotel, but for me it was just perfect. Quaint, comfortable and small, but between the spectacular rooftop bar and the beach location this was close to heaven for me. Also the staff is super friendly and eager to please. Make sure to meet Sterling Joyce, the Maitre D'Hotel, who is full of charm and enthusiasm as he provides some great commentary along with educational background on this little gem of a hotel located right on the Jax Beach.

  • Friendly staff, older, but nice rooms

Check-in was smooth and the accommodated our desire for a room with a tub. The rooftop bar was nice and the drinks were excellent as was the food; however, the service was woefully understaffed with long delays and even longer getting our check.

We had reservations for 11:00. A table was not available so they had us wait in the bar. The bar was packed with other people waiting for their table. It was finally 11:50 when that seated us....a 50 minute wait though we had reservations. The food was not to my liking. The food was not to the liking of my husband and two adult children either. We had plans to go somewhere after brunch but we had to go home because I started throwing up not long after leaving and my husband started having intestinal issues. The staff; however, were very nice. I have no complaints about the staff. I have only good things to say about them but they do seem to have booking issues and issues with the food.

  • My daughters wedding

Nice venue, good food but would not recommend for wedding. Staff is poor. The coordinator promises you that she will handle the day and help, but doesn't. She told us the courtyard could be tented on the fly for weather because they owned the tent, but then on the day told me "oh you have to give me 2 days notice" . I purchased the top shelf liquor package and the bartenders starting charging my guests for drinks until I put a stop to it. And finally the wedding cake was cut and taken into the kitchen but never served to my guests. I didn't realize until the next day when we went to get the cake(which they had to find) to realize it was the whole cake not just the top that is typically saved. What wedding venue doesn't serve the cake to the guests? They get your money and then move on to the next wedding. I would suggest hiring an outside wedding coordinator if you choose this place for a wedding.
