  • Buffet is off the charts and location is everything.

by Skimbleton on 2018-09-18 04:27 pm

Yes. This hotel is expensive. The rooms are small (it's an older building) and the parking can get crazy. However, I will deal with all of that for this place. I love that you enter your room to soothing music they have playing for you. The giant headboard on the bed is amazing. What's that... velvet. Yeah, it is. If you can afford the suite... get it. Ask for the one with the spiral staircase. If you can get a room during nights of lights... do it! You literally walk out of the hotel and into a holiday wonderland. You are steps from the water and all kinds of restaurants and shops. The buffet on Sunday is insane. It's so good. Omg. The restaurant in the lobby is fantastic also and they have a nice little bar. I'm sort of surprised by the other reviews because we've stayed here a few times and loved every trip. Our son even accidentally ripped the curtains out of the wall when he saw a fire truck go by and they were amazing about it. Yeah, that happened. He was three and got super excited. They went above and beyond to fix it since they were fully booked and could not move our room. Pool is nice also but there's so much to see in St Aug, you probably won't spend much time there

  • Short, but Fun Stay

    by USMC-6 on 2018-09-18 11:46 am

We had a standard room for one night. Room had good decor and was roomy, bed was comfortable; room was quiet, view was good; bathroom was clean and roomy. Had excellent wine and tapas plates in the bar area; and the next day we had a good breakfast in their dining room. (The avocado toast, fruit and fingerling potatoes were well prepared. Very good service.) Exercise room and outdoor pool are adequate. Valet parking was prompt and polite.

  • Great hotel with character

Built in 1888, this is a wonderful hotel with a lot of character. In particular, the artwork and furniture in the public areas is really wonderful! The ceiling in the lobby is also exceptional.

I enojoyed a suite on the third floor with a rounded wall that we overlooked Flagler. I found it to be spacious and comfortable, especially the lounge chairs and sitting area. I found the staff to be helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. Hotel also has a relationship with a beach club 15 minutes away. The club is upscale, with good food and drink and incredible service.

If you are in the St. Augustine area, consider staying here!

  • Classy, Historic Hotel

    by Scott N on 2018-09-16 08:06 am

When you approach downtown St. Augustine you will see the Lightner Museum, Flagler College and Casa Monica all next to each other. Casa Monica is a large hotel by St. Augustine standards. It has 4 stories and 2 elevators that while small seemed to always come without a wait for us. However we were there a little off season, Sept 10-14 so I am not sure if that is always that way. I hate having long elevator waits and I never had one. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. The decor was unique and upscale. There is a restaurant there but we never had any food there except breakfast which was fine. The coffee there was excellent. One problem in St. Augustine is finding parking. The hotel provided valet parking and it is added onto your hotel bill. The valet service was amazing, they never had us wait more than a minute. The maid service was excellent and they came every morning and did a nice job while we were gone sightseeing. They refilled and replenished as needed. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows. I slept well in it. The air conditioning worked well and the room was odor free. The room was quiet except for the pool noises which ended early in the evening so it didn't matter. The bathroom had a nice large vanity area so my wife and I had plenty of room to store our toiletries. The bathroom was large enough and had a nice shower and very nice shampoo, soap and conditioner provided. However we were on the 4th floor and the shower temp fluctuated based on the other people using water. It got hot and cold and required some adjustment while showering. It might be better on lower floors, I am not sure. The other bathroom complaint I have is no fan. I much prefer bathrooms with either fans or windows that can be opened. This had neither. The pool was rather small s. It was very hot when we were there and the pool was a popular spot. It was too crowded for us. However the hotel has an agreement with a local beach club that you can use. It has 3 pools and is on the beach so you can hang at the beach and they also have free chairs and umbrellas at the beach. The pools there were outstanding. It is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel and well worth it. There is free parking at the beach club too. The location of the hotel is what really makes this a solid selection for me. It is close to most of the attractions downtown and we walked to everywhere except the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel.
