  • 8th stay, 1st stay with our kids

    by McManus36 on 2019-06-16 11:20 am

We live 40 minutes away but we make The Colony a must stay once a year. This is the first time we took the kids (12, 13 and a toddler). Looking around the hotel you feel like you're in the early 1900s. The staff is so friendly. It's just an enchanting little place. At night a musician plays outside and it's so nice to sit there an listen. Its relaxing. The pool is beyond words! So large and beautiful. The pool area is equipped with noodles, things for the pool and beach, a hammock, seats throughout the property to hangout or read a book, lots of places for shade and sun, plus a covered area to eat.

  • Great Beach Club, but

    by GabKat13 on 2019-05-05 03:51 pm

The hotel is charming to look at and the private beach club a great amenity, however the King DeLux room is charming, but the marble bathroom inadequate. No place to stow toiletries for a couple. No place to dry bathing suits. No place for bath towels near the shower. When I asked for a small table to put in the large bathroom with a mini sink, I was told they had none. The breakfast featured corned beef hash, an unappealing concoction. The prices are high, the place historic, but only staff is permitted to operate the funky 1926 elevator.

The self service on site laundry is a big plus for extended stays. The view from our room was a roof and air conditioning units.

The lobby bar attracts an extremely noisy crowd from Atlantic
Avenue, the main drag in Delray Beach, and Hotel guests sitting in the library area don't have a quiet place to sit and relax in thee evening. Stayed two nights instead of 10 days and made other plans for the duration of our visit.

  • Florida charm

    by 00vette48306 on 2019-04-30 06:36 am

What a wonderful place to enjoy old Florida charm. The rooms maybe a little small but they're loaded with Antiques and you really get the feel of what the old Florida accommodations would have been in the 30s 40s or 50s.

We had a corner room 114 and I highly recommend that room. Bathrooms were totally updated and the bed was perfect.

You park in the back which is free and you walk through a huge wood floor area that's used for yoga and other fun get-togethers.

The main area in front includes the original check-in counters, manually operated elevator, a breakfast area, sitting area and small bar.

There is an outside seating area right on Atlantic Avenue that's perfect for a drink at night or coffee in the morning. It does include a modest continental breakfast but the atmosphere is what really wins you over. At certain times of the year you can get great deals also.

Maybe the best part of the Colony is it includes the use of their Cabana and Beach Club right on the ocean. A huge saltwater pool is included with loads of seating and a small restaurant on site. If you're not a pool person the beach is right there also. The nice thing was that even on check out day you could you could visit it for the remainder of that day.

  • No doubt about No doubt about it, Iâd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Typically I stay in B&Bs or vacation homes, the Colony is a medium size hotel but with a small boutique hotel feel. They were very attentive when called upon and you saw the same faces each day. Breakfast was the norm for continental style but being able to sit outside on the front porch of the hotel and people watch first thing in the morning made it that much better. Actually the ambiance of the hotel itself gives you this warm feel like you belong there and you can just feel the history oozing through the place. Whether the lobby or your room, it takes you back in time but with all of today's amenities. They're an ecofriendly hotel who provides their guests with top of the line soaps and shampoos. A little thing, but it matters to some of us more picky folks. Then there's the extra bonus of this hotel having their own private beach area. Yes, its off the property but well worth it. (They offer a shuttle) The beach club was amazing! The food at the club was great, reasonably priced, and to have the use of umbrellas, lounge chairs, dressing rooms and rest rooms all within a short walk of the beach is priceless! And they have a huge salt water pool if you don't want to sit at the beach. Plenty of chairs available, nice and quiet. I didn't see many children/families, it was more couples (older couples) I was able to read at the pool, that's how quiet it was during Spring Break. I almost didn't want to write this review and share this gem of a place with anyone but that wouldn't be fair to the hotel so I'll end it with this....if you're a couple looking to escape and you're considering this place or the Marriott, don't think twice about picking the Colony!
