  • A gem

This is a historic hotel, from the 1920s. REasonable rates, included braekfast, and right on Atlantic Ave. The rooms are just fine, the bathrooms are old time elegant, and for those of you who cant leave Fido at home they accept pets. The beach club. Ah, woth the price of admisison alone. Dont tell anyone about this place. It will get crowded.

  • Fifth Time

The Colony is our go to place whenever we visit Del Ray. The lovely clean, affordable historic hotel draws us back each trip. This time we went to the pool/ beach club which is absolutely gorgeous, and the pool is delightful. The only suggestions I have to make it even better is to either have coffee available in the lobby or have coffee machines in the rooms as coffee is only available during breakfast. It is not a huge deal as there are plenty of places where you can purchase coffee nearby. Also, although normally breakfast is not rushed one of the days, we were there they ran out of food. They replaced it but it was so close to closing that a few minutes after we got our food they started to take it away. The bar tenders are the sweetest guys you can find, and the drinks are quite reasonable and well prepared. Enjoying a breakfast and or a cocktail on the porch while watching the crowd go by is a wonderful experience.

  • Stay in history and view the future

by Mgdan on 2019-07-03 07:17 pm

This is a great historic hotel @1926, that has been renovated....and updated. Now don't expect Hyatt or Waldorf style have early 20th century style rooms, furniture, and bathrooms with modern fixtures in the bath.
Hallways still original wood...not to mention the lift ( elevator) . The downstairs has the old bar, check in desk and telephone switchboard.
Sit by the sidewalk at the hotel entrance : in evening enjoy live music or in the morning at the good breakfast buffet
At either time you can watch the world go by ......never a dull moment ...colors people movement ....
Also the hotel's beach club/pool is @ 2 miles away.. A free shuttle bus operates between the two. Admission is free if you are staying at the hotel. TAKE NOTE - NO BOOZE is served at the beach club it's BYOB only!
If you love history as I do you will find this a great place with moderate pricing.
Give it a shot and watch the future go by.......

  • âOldâ Florida is accurate

    by Travler54 on 2019-06-30 01:37 pm

This is not a bad place, but it does feel somewhat dated. It was a great deal in the summer, especially with breakfast and free parking included. The vibe in the lobby is definitely old Florida in a very cool way, but, no pun intended, the lack of air conditioning in the lobby and eating areas was less than desirable. Location is the best part--just a great place to be on Atlantic Avenue. The room felt a little tired. Not the worst but not the best either.

  • The porch at the Colony has great music but Lousy Service!

    by alanlparis01 on 2019-06-29 05:44 pm

The music on the porch of the colony is great, but they have no server to clear tables or bring drinks. Just one grumpy bartender who can't be bothered. Really poor management. What does it take to get someone in the serve drinks and clear tables? I mean they would sell so much more liquor that way, right?
This is a picture of our table where we waited for 20 minutes, with dirty glasses and empty beer bottles from the previous party, after we told the bartender we were there.
It seemed he could care less. I really wonder about the Colony's commitment to quality.
