    A conveniently located hotel we chose this to stay prior to our Alaska Cruise. It is a short walk to the waterfront and Pikes Market but also with a courtesy car being able to drive you upto 2 miles from the Hotel. Excellent staff, good clean rooms and a lovely grand dining area made for a memorable stay

    Fantastic location. Went with the corner king suite for $30 more per night and loved having living room separate from bedroom--if you get up earlier than your roomie you can close door and watch tv or whatever without disturbing them. TV in each room. I could see the sound out my window--fun to watch ships sail by. Easy to walk down to Pikes Market (5 min) lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Grand lobby, historical building. Love it.

  • Perfect Location

    This hotel was in the perfect location to see the space needle, pop museum, garden and the market. We walked everywhere! The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and had everything we could need to make our stay relaxing. I would stay there again if I am in town!

  • A cheapskate hotel

    1) Hotel charges handling fees for parcel collections
    2) Loss a jacket which front desk said will check and email but till now didn't.
    3) Level 5 lift lobby smells cigarettes and aisle smell pee.
    4) Double bed room is not queen size bed

  • MOBILITY CHALLENGED -- BEWARE

    Prior to a cruise from Seattle, our cruise line -- Holland America -- booked us into The Fairmount Olympic. The HAL Charge was outlandish so we cancelled their reservation and made one of our own at half the price. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! Both wife and I are mobility impaired.

    The Htel is beautiful and is an historic building. Their desk clerk apparently lacked observation powers as my wife was walking with a walker and me with a cane. She put us in a room the furtherest from the elevator on the floor. The bellman assisting us took one look at my wife who had paled from the walk and was obviously in discomfort, called the front desk and made clesr that a room closer to elevators was a MUST. He was a G-dsend and I wish I could remember his name. We moved to a room a few steps from the elevator.

    The hotel has a very nice lounge area that are up steps and a breakfast area that is up many more steps. There are NO RAMPS for walkers, wheelchairs, or for people who have difficulty with steps. If enough people need handicap access the the cocierge will ask security to "put out the ramps" but for individual customers going to the breakfast room, you are taken through back hallways behind the kitchen through areas where garbage cans, soiled linen, and other extraneous kitchen "stuff" is stored. If you were looking forward to breakfast, the odors and scenery were enough to turn off an appetite.

    We are told that the installation of ramps would not be prohibited by the historic nature of the property inasmuch as ADA is a National Requirement. Ramps would not damage the beautiful marble steps, simply cover a very small portion of them. It is apparent that the Fairmont ownership JUST DOESN'T WANT TO DO IT!!!

    So, if you are mobility challenged, stay somewhere else where your needs are pleasantly accommodated and go look at the Fairmont - it is worth seeing butv not staying at.
