  • Beautiful old style Grand Hotel

    by M9273VImichaelt on 2019-12-05 05:57 am

This hotel is a fabulous property that has been carefully maintained. However there are a few minor changes that would make it much better. First the tiny cheap flat screen TV over the nice mantle is pathetic and should be replaced with a 50". There were no HD or premium channels available; again not acceptable in a hotel of this calibre. The in room coffee maker needs to be replaced with a Kuerig or have coffee available in the lobby 24/7. Finally there needs to be an option available other than the down comforter. I couldn't get the room cool enough to sleep under that thing. A woven cotton blanket would have been perfect.
There was a glitch at check in. They had me booked for two rooms for some reason and the clerk was not very accommodating. She made it abundantly clear that they prefer that you book directly through the hotel.
It is a non smoking property but the bathroom absolutely reeked of cigaret smoke. I complained and they sent someone to spray but that did little to help.
The in house restaurant was the best thing about the hotel. The food was amazing. Absolutely the best hotel restaurant I've ever eaten at.
The cost of to stay at the hotel was very reasonable but the price of the meal was an even a bigger bargain. The food was fine dining at the price of a chain restaurant. Good hotel with an excellent restaurant!!! The hotel staff needs to work on their customer service a little. The restaurant staff was excellent!!

  • Beautiful, historic hotel for leisure travel

    by MI_TravelFreq on 2019-09-03 06:48 am

This hotel is exceptional in every respect except one: the lack of a proper fitness center. Although they have one "on paper," it is sorely lacking in the types of equipment and amenities typically expected of a modern hotel.

That said, everything else about this hotel is amazing. It is reasonably priced; has very large, comfortable rooms; has a wonderful, friendly staff; and is perfect for a getaway or special event. The public spaces are stunningly beautiful; and the lobby sparkles in the early morning sunlight. And there are even a few good ghost stories for the staff to share with guests, which, together with the changing fall colors, make the hotel a perfect place for October getaways.

The restaurant, Brumley's, has good breakfast options. But, I found myself gravitating to the coffee in the attached cafe, Catalyst Coffee Company, which is the only place in the downtown area for espresso and lattes.

Greeneville is a very walkable town, with wide streets, brick sidewalks, a few shops and cafes, and lots and lots (and lots) of historic buildings to explore. Be prepared to be charmed.

  • Wonderful three night stay

    by Pokeno8 on 2019-09-01 06:23 am

We were booked in to this venue as part of the group going to the Bristol Nascar race weekend.
The room and bed were lovely, the food in the restaurant was very good but the true surprise was the morning complimentary coffee offered at Reception every morning. To date, this has been the best coffee we have ever had in the USA and we come here often!!!

  • Skip the Hampton Inn!

by TennesseeJenny on 2019-09-01 04:28 am

We are Hampton Inn loyalists, but when we found the price inexplicably high in Greeneville ($167), we looked elsewhere, and we are so glad we did. This historic hotel is super classy, super comfortable, super peaceful. The rooms have high ceilings and are perfectly clean (without that chemical-cleaner smell of the big chains.) Parking is easy. Everything you could possibly need is nearby. We recommend a short drive to Buffalo Trace Orchard, where you can get bags of fresh, locally grown apples -- delicious. We will definitely choose this hotel for future visits, and will also look for other hotels on the historic register as we travel.

  • Great experience!

    by Sheri S on 2019-07-24 12:34 am

Love this Inn and will definitely stay here again. Upon arrival, we had a booking issue that was due to a mistake on our credit card points booking. Amy, at the front desk, was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire process of getting things resolved. Love the downtown area, shops and style of the Inn.
