  • Winter weekend getaway

    by pacurn57 on 2020-02-22 04:22 pm

My husband and I stayed at Glasbern for a two night weekend trip. We stayed in one of the Carriage House Sunroom suites. The room was lovely with a gas fireplace and whirlpool tub. The room itself could use a little updating/repairs (holes in the paneling in the sunroom). Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Ate at their restaurant Saturday evening. They offered a 3 course prix fixe menu for Valentines Day, which was excellent, though pricey. Patricia was our waitress, and she was very friendly and also excellent. Not much to do in the area, but we just wanted to relax and unwind for a few days, and it was a quick one hour drive from where we live. Will definitely return.

Me and husband wanted quick getaway for a night for valentines and Glasbern did not upset, it was our first time there but definitely not our last!
We stayed in the carriage house and room was beautiful and very relaxing with whirlpool.
And I can't express how AMAZING Patricia our waitress was, she went far and beyond to make our dinner and night exceptional. And her desserts are to die for!! Antonio and rest of staff were also very sweet and helpful! Can't wait to come back!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

  • Very Nice Getaway

by TomRAPN on 2020-02-09 04:09 am

We went here on a few recommendations from friends for a couples getaway. What a hidden gem! Very nice accommodations. The restaurant on site was fantastic. And the staff was absolutely amazing; very friendly and helpful. The spa was majestic, the two ladies working (I think Diane and Donna were there names) were unreal! The only gripe I would guess I had was the sleep number bed; however it was much better once I figured it out late in the morning. In all I will definitely be returning again!

  • Should have stayed in a Hotel

by PBGrape on 2020-02-04 05:06 pm

My husband and I wanted to get away for a much needed weekend away. We have a special needs daughter and it's not easy to go away.
I looked online and found The Glasbern Inn. The pictures were breathtaking. What attracted me to this place was the rooms looked clean, updated and beautiful. And...they had a healthier food option and could accommodate my gluten allergy.
I called to make a reservation and we got what I believe was the bottom of the barrel for a room. (I'll explain in a minute). We couldn't get one of the cottages because they were booked.
Our room was located in the main house were the reception, checking and restaurant are. The rooms in that house are on the bottom floor. When we walked in, it was confusing. People were there to get seated for their dinner and I didn't know where check-in was. It was all in the same place. We checked in and got our room card.
When we got in our room I got an alert that our debit card had already been charged. I thought this happened at the end of our stay?? I noticed stains on the carpet, and hair on the bathroom floor. My husband sat on the chair in the room and it felt like he was going to fall to the ground. The room had a sleep number bed, the rest was outdated. I didn't want to walk on the carpet. I was thinking....this is what $250 a night looks like?? (Including taxes)
We turned the tv on and during our whole stay the tv and sound kept freezing up. We couldn't even watch a show without being frustrated. My husband talked to someone at the front desk and he said "that's because of the clouds and rain". It didn't rain the whole time and the tv still froze up constantly. They have direct tv...same as I do and the only time this happens at my house is if a massive storm comes through. So, then it's time to go to sleep. I'm telling you...it sounded like horses trampling the floor above us. It was so loud and distracting. This is what we paid for!!?? At least when I made the reservation, they could have said that the only room they have left is directly below the dining room. The noise was horrible until around 11:00 at night and started back early in the morning.
When we went to check out...they were going to charge our debit card again. It was a different person checking us out. I told her no way was she double charging me. She worked that out and our card wasn't double charged. She said our card shouldn't have been charged when we checked in. Seriously....how often does this happen?

Some positive things about Glasbern is the land is beautiful Ponds are pretty and the event spaces looked really nice. We didn't get to see any of the cottages... but I imagine they are pretty and better than the room we stayed in.
Another plus.....We chose to eat in their restaurant both nights, and of course we ate each morning the included breakfast....one of the great things about this place is their food is delicious! They had delicious GF bread that was brought out to me. Although, the second night I asked the waitress for bread and she told me that she couldn't locate any. I tried to tell her that I was disappointed and she started walking away as I was talking. She then came back with GF bread and said that that was the last of it. The next morning I asked for GF bread thinking I had eaten the last piece the night before. I asked the waitress that morning if it was all gone and she said "never". Not sure what was up with that the night before?? The waitress in the morning was the nicest and friendliest there. The other waitresses are running back and forth and seem to have very little time. I imagine they must be multitasking but for the gratuity tut is automatically taken out of our bill....I would want better service, nicer service.
I can't say enough how disappointed I was in this place. It's a shame such a beautiful place that has so much going for it...can't do better with some of the problems I encountered.

  • Magical!

    by Traveler6203 on 2020-01-28 08:30 am

We spent a romantic weekend at the Glasbern Inn (Jan. 19th-21st). Our entire experience was magical from arrival to departure. The room was absolutely beautiful and the staff exceptional. The meals were all the more enjoyable because of Andrea, Beth, and Shey. They went above and beyond to ensure every guest was well attended. They are an awesome Trio!!

The complimentary farm to table breakfast definitely exceeded our expectations. The fresh blueberry scones will bring us back!
