  • A Family Vacation

    by Corey M on 2019-07-17 06:01 am

Just stayed at the Grand and it was a very nice place. Lots of history and an enjoyable pool area. If you are looking for a beach, drive the 40 minutes to Gulf Shores and get the touristy stuff out of the way while you are there.

The Marina House rooms were nice (ask for an even number for water view) but the cleaning staff wasn't motivated and consistently failed to refill our soaps/etc and decided that one day, we didn't need any cleaning service. This was shared with the staff and they brought chocolates and a card, which was appreciated.

We only ate at the Jubilee Pool and Bayside Grills and were not impressed. They were just ok. This lead us to head off-site to Fairhope for better-tasting and less expensive dining options.

There are many activities for the kids such as a pool, sandy beach, putting green, pier fishing, and games like horseshoes and cornhole to name a few. Also, there are paddle boards, kayaks, self-propelled water bikes, and a sailboat for use at no charge.

Overall, it is a fun place for a family vacation. Fairhope is a great little town about 10 minutes away and Gulf Shores is about 45 so this is a great place near two fun areas that give you a chance to go off property and return to a calm relaxing home away from home.

Also, the picture doesn't do it justice. We stayed during the recent Hurricane Barry weekend and had a deluge of rain along with rough seas that closed Gulf Shores beaches. If I had paid closer attention I would have taken a pic of a beautiful Bay sunset from a resort swing.

  • Great Weekend Getaway

by JYGM on 2019-07-15 03:13 am

We had an excellent stay at the Grand this weekend. It rained most of Saturday due to TS Barry, but we had an excellent time eating good food, spending time at the Spa - Christy is excellent for a massage. After the rain passed we spent time at the adult section of the pool and it was nice to not have a bunch of little ones running all over the place. That being said their is much for kids to do and I can see why families come and spend vacations here - mini golf, ladder golf, corn hole, fishing with bait (caught some croaker), pool, kayaks, water bike, feed the ducks, etc, etc. The food was above average to excellent at each place we dined - loved the shrimp & cheese dip at Bayside Grill. The beef tenderloin was top notch at Southern Roots, but it seemed like they were understaffed that evening as they would never bring our check - but everything else was timely. We sipped drinks at the 1847 Bar and it was fun to watch them make special high end drinks. Lunch at the Jubilee Poolside Bar was way better than expected - chicken nachos. Overall I highly recommend staying here for a fun and relaxing vacation.

  • Best customer service

by JoshuaExpeditions on 2019-07-12 04:02 pm

The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are nice... The shower is basic.. great restaurants and tons of activities for families.

What set this hotel apart is the customer service... it is absolutely amazing!

The breakfast buffet is also amazing but it's not cheap.

  • Over priced for the product but high and low points

    by AllenT_12 on 2019-07-11 08:31 pm

Very large property, many activates for the kids. Overall an average product but not worth the price. The service was average and not very impressive. The cabanas were very comfortable and convenient ($100 per day) beds were clean and comfortable. Restaurant had a good breakfast and a wonderful dinner. Long walks to get from our room to the main building, not a big issues. Lot's of kids and good for families. Valet was very helpful. I feel the hotel is a bit over priced for the level of service and quality you receive.

    Owner Response
    AllenT_12,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on your recent visit. We appreciate your feedback and are pleased to hear you enjoyed the cabanas, activities, guestroom beds, the restaurants and that the valet was helpful throughout your stay. As the resort is spread out with unique scenic walks along the bay and with the trails surrounding our oak trees around the lagoon, our transportation staff is also pleased to assist with transportation
24 hours a day if needed. I also would like to share that our rates do fluctuate, rates are higher as we are currently in our peek season.

Once again, we thank you for your feedback. We do hope that you will provide us the opportunity to serve you again in the near future.

    Thank you,

  • This place is amazing!

    by jasoncA5664CP on 2019-07-08 02:52 pm

This was our second time staying here and first time in the summer. They have so much to do at the hotel we will for sure bring the kids on our next visit. Your family will not be bored at this place... they have golf, swimming, fishing, ping pong, horse shoes, croquette, corn hole, and other games. They have multiple water-crafts you can use in the beach area off of Mobile Bay. The pool area is amazing and they have a separate adult pool if you want to get away from kids! They also have a indoor pool for those bad weather days. The staff is really friendly... seems like you are in Disney. You will not be disappointed with your stay at this property.
