• Explore the St. Beatus Caves. Overlooking the Thunersee (Lake Thun), this majestic natural landmark is a popular cave system that features illuminated pathways and chambers. It is named for Beatus of Lungern, who, according to legend, slew an evil dragon that lived in the caves.
• Visit Schloss Oberhofen on the shores of the nearby Thunersee (Lake Thun). Constructed during the early 13th century, the Schloss Oberhofen was once a medieval fortress occupied by the forces of the Habsburg emperors. Today, it is a Swiss Heritage Site of National Significance that is managed by the Historical Museum of Bern.
• Travel to the Bundesplatz in Bern. This amazing historic public square constitutes the center of Bern’s medieval city center, which is now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many noteworthy landmarks abound nearby, including the Bundeshaus.
