  • Poor service, double-booking, stingy fees... so many problems.

    We are a four-generation Dartmouth family who has been patronizing the Dartmouth-owned Hanover Inn for 60+ years, so we were shocked to be treated so shabbily for the wedding of our Dartmouth daughter and her Dartmouth fiancee. Our experience with the group sales director got off to a sour start when she demanded that we agree to be financially responsible for any unused reservations in our room block, instead of simply having it expire 60 days before the event as most hotels do (including the Inn's Upper Valley competitors). Then our new in-laws, who had reserved the Inn's banquet space for the rehearsal dinner months earlier, were told a few months before the wedding that the space was now double-booked and our rehearsal dinner would have to move to a far inferior space. Needless to say, our in-laws (also Dartmouth people) were offended and decided to have the rehearsal dinner at the Woodstock Inn instead, where we were all treated well. The coup de grace was when the Hanover Inn informed us two weeks before the wedding that it would be charging a fee to distribute welcome bags to guests who had booked the Inn -- something the Inn's competitors, Six South and the Norwich Inn, wouldn't dream of doing. I'm just sorry that we did not urge all of our guests to avoid the Hanover Inn, though most stayed at Six South anyway. The Hanover Inn's stinginess is so short-sighted: They're going to miss out on revenue and goodwill from two longtime Dartmouth families for years to come.

  • Superior quality of executing customer service

    I traveled up to Hanover, NH from Massachusetts for my wedding on Memorial Day weekend, and they made my experience really wonderful. This review however is only going to be about the hotel aspect of my experiences. Everyone who I encountered at this Inn was very friendly and welcoming. I've never stayed at a hotel in my country that was this accommodating for their guests.

    The gentlemen at the valet, the front desk staff, and the cleaning staff were fabulous. I have no practical reason to stay at this hotel again since I have family living in Hanover, but if I were visiting someone at Dartmouth College or just here for business, I would stay at that hotel.

  • A great stay, very comfortable, beautiful, and convenient.

    The location is excellent, very central to anything you might need in Hanover; the Dartmouth Coach will drop you off at the hotel. My room was clean and very comfortable, with nice furnishings. The hotel staff were efficient and friendly; a very pleasant stay.

  • Perfect Location

    The staff were all kind and the hotel is in a perfect location relative to campus. The Dartmouth Coach also drops off right in front of the hotel. The room was spacious and also comes with an umbrella.

  • Exceptional location; Great Customer Focus; Terrific Amenities

    This hotel is perfectly located and its history is wonderful, for example there is an 18th century working grandfather clock in the lobby and a board next to the elevator that identifies the graduation year of each Dartmouth graduate in residence...but the real wonder of this hotel is its amenities. For example, they have a dozen Adirondack chairs outside facing the Dartmouth Green for guests to relax in, cookies every afternoon and many other small touches that make you feel invited.
