    Wouldn't stay there again if it was free. Management was rude. Arrive on Friday night and couldn't have a wine or drink. A wedding party had booked the bar for the evening. 54 degrees and no heat. They hadn't turned it on. No extra blankets available. No apologies available either. Very run down. Floors are awful in Bldr. 2... poor wine selection. Bathroom shower curtain had endured a Frat Party but not well. Ripped and torn.
    Go to Kelly's. It Great.

  • Disorganized and Bad customer service

    My friend went here for her honeymoon a last week. I had called the front desk and purchased a gift certificate for her to use at the hotel restaurants during her stay. I purchased it over the phone and they assured me that they would give her the gift certificate upon check-in. I also told my friend to ask the front desk for it.

    Unfortunately the front desk did not give her the gift certificate even when she asked. I called today to get a refund because her honeymoon is over and she never received her gift. The front desk person acted like they were doing me a favor by giving me a refund and that they "don't normally do this." They refused to connect me to a manager to make them aware of the situation. I wanted to let them know that there is clearly a communication breakdown happening at the front desk, and management should be aware of this process issue.

    It is completely unacceptable that I purchased a gift for several hundred dollars and they pretended that it didn't exist. I can't speak to the quality of the rooms, but the hospitality and service is definitely lacking. Would not recommend.

  • Concerned about previous poor reviews, but generally happy with our experience

    Having come from Boston and the smallest room/bathroom ever, our spacious room in the Mayhew building was a nice surprise.
    We're low maintenance travellers, didn't use the lifts, TV, phone or in house restaurant so can't comment on those. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was good and there was plenty of room for our toiletries. The d?cor is a bit bland, but The location is residential and quiet and is a very pleasant 10-15 minute stroll into the main town. The porch and entrance lounge area are attractive, with views to the lighthouse and water and the gardens are well-kept and pretty.
    A small point- we arrived at 3 for 4pm check-in and our room wasn't ready- fair enough. The gentleman receptionist would try to call us but was concerned when told we didn't have a USA mobile no.( although not sure why as we have international calling on our phones) but that our room was guaranteed for 4pm. We settled in the lounge a few steps from reception. When I went back after 4 it was clear the receptionist had changed and there was no system for alerting waiting guests when the room was actually ready. Everything was then completed speedily and efficiently by the young lady receptionist.

    This is the first review I have ever given, on any platform, ever. My experience at the Harbor View this past summer was worth creating an account and sharing it.

    My husband and I were married on Martha's Vineyard 5 years ago and had our reception at the Harbor View hotel. Even though it was the best day of our lives, the service did not meet expectations for a variety of reasons and they missed the mark. For our anniversary we decided we still wanted to go back where we made it official because it is such a meaningful place to us. I was aware a change in ownership had been made and was hopeful that we would have a positive experience. My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service.

    Darlene, the concierge, went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of from the moment we told her we were returning. There aren't quite words to describe her level of service or attention to detail, but she made me feel like I was her own daughter! I did not have the pleasure of meeting Mackenzie but I know she also played an integral role in the enjoyment of our stay.

    We are very much looking forward to returning to the Harbor View Hotel to create new memories and reflect on the older ones for years to come. Thank you!!

  • What a pity we were not told beforehand of the poor state this hotel is the in

    Good location but that's as far as the recommendation goes
    Surly miserable staff on front desk
    Awful first room we were shown to dirty
    Most outdoor areas in need of refurbishment which is happening next week,but the staff just ignore the fact that customer# are complaining about things.chipped paint on balcony very dangerous,no phone working,no ac.
    This is not a cheap hotel and yet they are charging full whack for poor service and accommodation.
    Staff are needing to smarten up and have better training in customer service
    Very very very disappointing
