  • Lovely Pasadena Hotel

    by Diane D on 2019-04-13 12:48 am

My husband and I have stayed at Hotel Constance twice this year. The employees are friendly and service oriented. We stayed in the new wing of the hotel and the room was very large, nicely furnished and clean. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly employee at the front desk. He explained the amenities of the hotel including information regarding the free hotel shuttle to the downtown vicinity, if we should need it later. And, we were offered warm chocolate cookies. The bar was very nice too. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return to the Hotel Constance when we are in Pasadena. The service was great, people friendly and the hotel was clean.
The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because it is a small boutique hotel and does not have some of the amenities of a larger resort hotel.

  • Outstanding boutique hotel in a great location

    by Hidrfoot01 on 2019-04-13 09:43 am

I chose this hotel based on their website, location and pricing. We stayed 3 nites. The Hotel is a retro remodel in a great location. A lot of business people stay here. The room although not large was extremely contemporary and efficient. There is a glass separation between the shower/toilet and the room itself. Extremely clean with maid service very efficient. Thick luxurious towels (English) great bedding.
Extremely friendly helpful staff who gave great recommendations for dining & activities. A happy hour from 4-7 with food & drink specials that were very good - coconut battered shrimp.
    Would definitely stay here again.

  • Cool retro building modernized with an interesting flourish

    by rocketdawg2015 on 2019-04-13 08:23 am

The rooms and services are good. We were there for Xmas week and it was nice. I would return and recommend. However, one small caveat. The decor seems kind of like a disco ballroom. For me its too busy, busy patterns and colors, carpets, and lights. In some places low, cool vibe, others, more like disco dolly, Vegas lights. I guess they're targeting a younger market. Fun place, decent prices.

  • Staff are wonderful; amenities plentiful; history completely engaging

by jeneff on 2019-04-03 02:23 pm

We found the hotel through the Santa Anita Racetrack website, since we were planning to go there for the day (which was spectacular). The Art Deco style is pretty intense - almost like a W or Virgin hotel - but when you view the history of the hotel in their photo montage, you really appreciate it. The exterior has been restored to its original glory from 1926. The bar had a trio playing jazz (upright bass, piano, sax), which was a nice touch. Pleasant pool and hot tub with chairs, cabanas, and couchy loungers; walkable to a bunch of restaurants, and even a free shuttle to any place within 3 miles (with a polite young man as the driver; we appreciated the option). The rooms are nice. Fair warning - if you take the room with a balcony, you also get the "open concept" bathroom, with just a partial glass door between you and the rest of the room (with the radical Japanese Toto toilet, heated seat with multi-setting bidet. Very trendy). I'm just not cool enough. I like privacy and a full door. We asked to switch to a room with a more traditional bathroom, and the staff was as nice as could be about it. We were gone for the entire day and they still let us switch rooms when we returned in the evening, no problem. Affordable too. I felt lucky to have found this hotel.

  • Overpriced!

    by redwoods123 on 2019-03-31 12:04 am

This is an old hotel. One wing has been "renovated." The other is still under construction. The rooms are tiny with cheap finishes and furniture. The windows are tiny and filthy. The entrance from the garage is through an extremely uninviting grey concrete service tunnel. The lobby furniture is literally filthy, bright white upholstery that has never been cleaned. At 7pm on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was empty, so we decided it might be prudent to go to the bistro next door which was excellent. Good location and cute rooftop pool, but little else.

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Although we take pride in being one of the top two hotels in Pasadena, we failed in our service to you. We will be reaching out to you shortly. Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review of you stay with us.
