    I was on a business trip. The service was great. The staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms very nice and clean. However, there were no refrigerators and/or microwaves in the rooms. The hotel is convenient to restaurants. I would stay again.

    Nice friendly and accommodating staff. It is a historic hotel so rooms are small and amenities are lacking, but the staff is amazing and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Great location downtown near convention center

  • The Tavernonna Italian Kitchen

    The wait staff in this restaurant inside the hotel. Greg, Chris & Dawn have all been excellent. It is nice to visit a big city where the people are all so nice. Our servers Greg and Chris have been excellent hosts, plus Dawn one of the managers was always attentive to our needs. The Boutique Hotel at Hotel Phillips is very nice, but the restaurant is first class. One other recommendation is the SpeakEasy when the J Love band played. Excellent time and music. Great place to stay, highly receommended

  • Not bad but some issues

    I just spent 4 nights here for a work conference. The bed was comfortable and the room a decent size. Conference meeting space seemed fine but I was not involved in that planning. But there were some issues. Of the 3 nights I had my room cleaned, it was only done completely one night. The other 2 they did not empty the bathroom trash and just threw new towels on the bed. The elevators are old and slow. And the fire alarms went off twice while I was there. The staff was nice and the location is good. Overall a mixed bag.

  • Old Hotel with service issues

    I booked the Hotel Phillips thinking it would be something like the Lenox in Boston or the Sir Francis Drake in San Francisco. Overall the architecture and room styles were similar, but the level of service at the Phillips was well below the level of the other two. Given the high nightly rate (and my Hilton Honors status), that was disappointing.

    We booked a King Deluxe as there were three of us traveling. The room was small, but that is what I expected. There were no linens in the room for the sofa bed when we arrived, so we had to call for those. Housekeeping staff brought some up and just dumped them in the room. Odd, but I hadn't expected them to make the sofa bed, so I didn't think much of this.

    The next day the housekeeping staff came by early to see if we wanted the room serviced. They were clearly unhappy with the 'yes' answer I gave, and came back later and asked the same question of my wife. Oddly, that day the blanket for the sofa bed disappeared. I am not saying it was retaliation for asking for service, but it was definitely odd.

    Even more annoying was when we called and asked for another blanket, since the one was missing. We were first told there were none available by someone who claimed to be a manager, and we would just have to make do, but then one was brought to our door by an unhappy delivery person.

    So it seems there are some service issues, mostly centered around the housekeeping staff.

    On the good side, this hotel has easy access to the convention center and is close to the Power and Light district. I can't say much more good about it than that though.
