  • Boutique hotel

    The Hotel Phillips is an historic hotel that has been remodeled as a part of the Hilton Curio collection. I suggest a corner room. The cost is a bit more, but the extra room is worth it. The challenge for this hotel is its age & structure limited some things like closet space & a refrigerator. The staff was very polite & treated us very well all week. It is very convenient to the Power & Light district. The restaurant did a really nice breakfast & welcomed us daily for our Hilton rewards standing!

  • Kansas City Barbeque!

    The Phillips is close to everything in the Power and Light District. Also, easy walk to the convention center. Valet parking was smoothly done at check in. Every time I needed the car, it was in place when promised! I arrived earlier than planned and the baggage storage was efficiently done. Guest service personnel were friendly and knowledgeable.

  • Great sized rooms in historic setting

    This curio line hotel surprised us when we walked into our room. Walking into the building and lobby, valet greets you and you enter a historic setting from the 30's. The ornate stair railings, gates, banisters, front desk all fit the decor of the time. Even the elevators - very small bit from that historic era. It is well restored!l the rooms are large and comfortable - we had a sitting area and the bed area and bathroom area separated with a sliding door. Some of the desk staff acted as though they would rather be somewhere else while others were most accommodating. On one instance Saturday evening, while asking about getting honors number added to the account of someone in our group, there were 3 people at the desk, one was on his phone texting and ignored the question, while one of the other two who was helping someone else quickly came over and helped out. We were there on a busy weekend with a convention group there and also a wedding. The rooms were very clean and housekeeping did a great job changing towels, and refilling amenities. The price for conference was very reasonable in this area downtown KC. Enjoyed the stay!

  • Not breast-feeding mom friendly

    Did not have access to a mini-fridge form medical reasons. I stay at all sorts of Hilton properties for work travel and I never been refused access to a personal fridge. I had to store my milk in the community fridge by the front desk, unable to insure the cleanliness of the fridge. To be an inclusive hotel, you really need to have access to these for medical purposes. This excludes people and creates unnecessary stress for people. Especially for a supposed "luxury" hotel, to not have access to a min fridge is absurd.

  • If you have an issue donât expect a response

    This is a hard review, the location of the property is terrific. The problem is that I have been a Hilton Diamond member for well over a decade and I had a very poor experience with housekeeping, more specifically with my do not disturb sign on was walked in on and disturbed not once, not twice but three times. I contacted the front desk, called the assistant general manager (Amber Boos) and emailed Amber twice and ZERO response. Beyond disappointed and despite the positives I would not stay again because the leadership of this property is not up to the standard that I have otherwise experienced with Curio properties, which means that if the leadership doesn't care it will transcend down to the rest of the staff - lead by example or fail by example and in this situation I'm less than impressed.
