  • Terrific location for wedding guests to hang out together

    by Alix F on 2018-09-16 04:15 pm

We, as a family, recently had over 20 rooms booked at this hotel for a wedding party and out of town family. We dealt with Kate as a liaison, who was extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel had a complimentary shuttle ride to the wedding for two people for every room, and fortunately, our wedding was the only one that night, so we could schedule everyone ahead of time. The breakfast was good and they had a patio to sit out on (second floor) but it was raining. They have a mini pool and treadmill I didn't use. The room was nice and I loved looking out over the rooftops at night (I was on the 3rd floor). A lot to do just outside the door, boutiques and shops and Iron Brewery right down the street, but the wedding guests just stayed in the on-site bar till 2 am, which was very convenient as people who got tired could just drift upstairs. There were only two minor issues we had - the first was that there was not enough parking at the hotel and it was $20/ night. If you stay, book the parking the minute you get there. Otherwise, there is municipal parking one block over which is easy. I had a hard time getting to the parking the first time as there are a lot of one way streets. Second, some of our guests (4 separate people) who booked closer to the wedding date reported having trouble getting rooms and were spoken to by grumpy guest services personnel who gave them the runaround, which was unfortunate, but I did not experience that, I found all the staff to be very cheerful. So, book earlier if you can.

  • You can't find a better location in West Chester!!

by Bellagrah on 2018-08-04 05:13 am

Booked two rooms for a birthday celebration and out of town guests on July 28th. The location for our Saturday night was perfect. Going out to dinner and drinks, it was an easy and beautiful walk back to the hotel. Asked for and received an early check in so we could prepare for our guests and Shauna (sp?) and another front desk lady were personable, courteous and helpful. Our rooms were clean and spacious and a High Street view for one of the rooms was great. We were each given a free drink token for the Marquee Bar downstairs and the bartender couldn't have been friendlier. Breakfast next morning was plentiful and surprisingly varied. We were expecting a "normal" continental breakfast but were pleasantly surprised with scrambled eggs, waffle station, fresh fruit, yogurt and a wide variety of pastries and other breakfast grains. My daughter (whose birthday we were celebrating) has Celiac Disease and could eat an ample breakfast which is not the norm when we travel. The only reason I did not give it an "excellent" rating is that 1. Some of the younger staff (The man with whom we spoke to on the phone asking for an early check in and who was at the hotel that weekend and another man at check out whose names I will not state here but will provide to the hotel if desired) we encountered were not the most professional or courteous people. They weren't outright rude but more standoffish and acted like they either didn't want to be there or that I was somehow bothering them to do their task. 2. The popcorn in the lobby and bar (which we all thought was a fantastic nod to the hotel's history) was never full and seemed to be there for a while. Overall we had an excellent time and very happy with our stay. Our out of town guests had a wonderful time as well, loved the hotel and we are planning to have them back for New Year's Eve and definitely will be staying at the Hotel Warner again.

  • Mini bar crawl

    by tazzzz13 on 2018-07-31 04:57 am

A few friends and I decided to stay at the Warner as we did a mini bar crawl by having a beer at each of the local establishments in historic West Chester. The hotel certainly did not disappoint. We actually started at their bar. The bartender was very engaging. As for the hotel itself from check in to check out it was top notch. Friendly staff who are very knowledgable on the area. Lobby nice, clean, and pays homage to the history of the building. Rooms clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was just right the next morning. Will definately advise family and friends to stay here when they are in the area.

  • Great Downtown Location

    by Christie Y on 2018-07-19 09:21 am

Within walking distance of restaurants, the Knauer Performing Arts Center, and the historical society this hotel is the place to stay when visiting West Chester's downtown area. The hotel is a registered historic building which may appeal to some people. Because of this they do charge a nominal nightly fee that goes towards its historic preservation. They do identify this on their website and it's not that much, so it shouldn't keep you from staying here! It's also a nice quaint hotel; not flashy or grand. My room was clean with comfortable beds, a mini fridge, safe, TV and other typical necessities like an iron and hairdryer. Staff is pleasant and helpful with directions. At check in they provided a list of restaurants that have discounts for Hotel Warner guests which I thought was a nice touch. You can pay a fee to park at the hotel ($20/night when I visited) or park across the street at the municipal lot for a reduced rate that will just be added to your hotel bill. They do allow you to pull into their lot and park temporarily while you check in and unload your bags. The hotel has a pool and a fitness center, although I didn't personally use either I did explore to check them out. The pool is small but clean. And I wouldn't describe it as a fitness "center". There were three pieces of cardio equipment and one was out of order when I was there. Their website does say they have a special rate for the YMCA a block away if you want a more intense workout. They also have a nice lounge/bar area but they close rather early (10 pm if I recall), which is just as well. No need to disturb hotel guests when there are perfectly good bars within walking distance. Overall my stay was pleasant and I enjoyed my time exploring the area.

  • Good Modern Hotel with Free Mildew

    by 1NicePerson on 2018-06-25 10:31 am

Contrary to popular belief, this is a very modern hotel. While it's on the site of the historic Warner Theater, all that remains of the theater is part of the facade and a staircase in the lobby. The rest of the building and all the guests rooms are newly constructed with no historic flavor whatsoever. How this qualifies as a historic hotel really baffles me. My room was comfortable, however, and almost clean if you look away from the black mildew in the shower which you have to be blind not to notice. If only the hotel had invested a dollar or two in a bottle of chlorine bleach, I would have given them five stars. The breakfast was ample and akin to what you would get at a Holiday Inn Express, but with better coffee. The location is handy if you're visiting the Uptown Theatre. Otherwise, I'm at a loss to find anything particularly interesting or unique in West Chester.
