    Based on the reputation we expected the rooms to be a bit bigger. The only chair to sit in was the desk chair and the room was cramped. The bathroom in our room was an over-sized pedestal. There was no counter space to put you toiletries, hair dryer, etc. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel.

    A lovely hotel in the right center downtown. Good for shopping at the Michigan Avenue and close to the loop.
    Easy Access to all the shops and restaurants. Metra train, and taxis access. Hosting the Michael Jordan's restaurant

  • Amazing Stay in Magnificent Mile

    The hotel is strategically located in the beginning of the Magnificent Mile and close to the business district.
    The rooms are spacious; have a good spread of buffet menu and various eating options. You can walk down to all the destinations.

    Over the past several years, we have stayed multiple times at the Intercontinental. The initial draw, several years back, was the convenience of the location. We make an annual trip to Chicago to do our Christmas shopping. This year after checking in, it was immediately apparent that something was off. I arrived early in the day (approx 10:30) and the room wasn't ready, so ran to the grocery store for a few in room snacks. Once back I checked the two bags but had a small bottle of sugarless coffee creamer that I needed stored. Bell services does not have a refrigerator. I went to the Concierge desk to inquire. The woman i engaged with there has absolutely no business working in the hospitality industry, let alone concierge. She was an older woman with short light colored hair. She was dismissive, unaccommodating and borderline rude. Her answer was, No I can't help you. After waiting for approximately an hour I chatted with a desk manager who just happened to be the only employee that seemed to care about proper representation of the brand, and delivering good guest service. He stored my creamer, allowing me to venture out and enjoy the day. 5 hours later a room was ready. It is an excellent room for size, but was the exact room that we started in last April when we visited for several days. We requested a room change after the first night due to noise. It's directly across from the Tribune building, which is under renovation. I called down to say that if the room still had challenges with the noise, before I unpack I'd like to move. The manager couldn't say if there continued to be noise complaints, so just moved us. The room we moved to had a very small bathroom counter area, which we mentioned in our online feedback when connecting to the internet. Much to our surprise we received a silent message at 10:22 PM of someone that seemed very kind and sincere who offered a room change. When my sister called down in the morning, they apologized, asked for her number and said they would text later when a room cane available. Now mind you, although inconvenient, we would have never called for a room change because of the small bathroom. It was an extremely nice gesture. We packed everything back up and went off shopping. We thought that would be easiest for when we returned later that day. We were gone for over 8 hours and when we returned my sister called down to check on the status of their offer of a room change. The man she spoke with at that time had a lot in common with the concierge employee. Very unaccommodating and rude. Bottom line he was unhelpful and claimed that he would check into the allegation that we were promised a room change. He said he would be back in touch. We never heard another thing from him. This experience was so bad that we went and toured LondonHouse before leaving the city on the 5th day. The level of customer service that we received in a short 30 minutes by far and wide exceeded that of the Intercontinental. After many years of being a huge Intercontinental advocate, I am over it. They should send the bulk of their employee base to be trained from Ken at the LondonHouse.

    Nice hotel with great location. Room (a suite) was very spacious but the bathroom was very narrow and tight. Complimentary breakfast was crowded - had about a 10 minute wait to be seated. Didn't have opportunity to use pool.
