Constructed in 1763, John Rutledge House Inn® is both a National Historic Landmark and lovely boutique hotel in Charleston, SC. It was once the home of John Rutledge, a signer of the U.S. Constitution and an esteemed South Carolina politician. Rutledge helped write several iterations of the document from the building’s second-floor drafting room. It is even rumored that She Crab Soup was created in the house at a party attended by President William Howard Taft during the 1920s. This amazing historical location became the John Rutledge House Inn® in 1989. Today, the Inn offers guests the opportunity to experience the unique elegance of a bygone era. Guests will find the hotel’s Broad Street location perfect for exploring surrounding Charleston.
