  • Great Hotel in Central Park area

    The Essex House is great. We only stayed two nights and didn't have any meals here but we did have drinks in the bar. Great atmosphere and plenty of seating. They offer complimentary coffee in the morning which was so convenient. The rooms are spacious and clean. Will definlty book here again.

  • Lovely

    We stayed for 3 nights in October with a Central Park view, which as noisy. We stayed on VISA and Marriott points so were not affected by the $800 per night rate. There was a $35/day food/beverage credit, which we used, and a spa credit, which we didn't use. The hotel was beautiful, spotless, friendly. The room was spacious, the restaurant good. My one complaint was a bit of nickel and diming. We were charged $24 for a (small) bottle of water. We didn't actually take it, so we were credited. Room service was $50 for coffee, 2 English muffins, fruit and "homemade" granola--which came in a Kellogg's box. This wasn't bad actually, nor was the 18% gratuity, but the $5 delivery fee was silly. Since it was room service, the gratuity is for the service. I'd recommend it for those not on a budget--or with a lot of points.

  • Excellent operation but gold status no longer has access to Executive Lounge

    This is a world class hotel that knows how to run a New York location. Away from the chaos of the Marriott Marquis, the Essex house is perfect location near central park.

    Despite room service delivering items to our neighbors a few times at least we weren't charged for the robes that were sent there after it was straightened out.

    Even though Gold status no longer has access to breakfast...all higher statuses can still access the first floor room for full breakfast and then dinner o'dourves. Can't wait until our next visit.

  • Simply Amazing!!!

    What a wonderful first class hotel. We just stayed here for the New York City Marathon and the accommodations as well as the staff were amazing. The staff saw to our needs and they were all very pleasant and personable. As for the accommodations, the room was spacious (large king size) and quite. I would highly recommend.

  • Excellent with a touch of disappointment

    We arrived very early to New York unfortunately there was no room available to us for check in. But you could notice that the crew did there utmost to try and expedite our check in.
    The hotel is Luxurious and even more beautiful than in the pictures.
    The room was very clean, you can see it was visited by the cleaners several of time during the day.
    The only two things i can say i was personally disappointed for:
    One, we came there for vacation and celebration of my birthday, usually at other hotels we stayed at along the years, took notice of it without the need to mention it. This time although we mentioned it, because we were disappointed at our previous hotel (we came from LA), not even a card waited for me at the room.
    Second, we took the junior suite, which was a very nice, spacious room, but the down side, that it was not facing the Park.
    Since this is the only "bad" things i can say, we recommend this hotel and will surly return.
