  • Classic NYC

    by Victoria W on 2018-09-22 04:21 pm

The hotel is elegant and stately as to be expected with the JW brand, and the staff was extremely professional. My room and bathroom were larger than typical NYC hotel rooms. Lastly, the location is ideal with Central Park located across the street, and Shopping and dining within walking distance.

  • Great location

This hotel has an excellent location near the park. I had a jr suite which was super fabulous. The only thing I didn't like was no coffee in the room. Isn't that standard now? It's on the lobby but I think it's lame not to have a Keurig in the room. The $25 charge that applies to food in the hotel THAT Day only is also so lame. Just another charge.

  • Extremely wonderful stay during US Open

There is almost too much to say in praise of the JW Essex House.

The staff at every level was so very helpful, courteous and cheerful.

Seldom if ever is it true that an entire staff goes out of their way and goes
the extra mile. From the bellman that helped us out of the car, to the
late night bell woman, Emelynn, who helped with our luggage; the front desk people Jean
and Indhi, then later in the trip Melvin and Felix; (Indhi took care of a reservation glitch
the first night which was our first impression of the Essex House great service.)

All the security people in the main hallway and elevator area gives one a safe feeling, and
they were also friendly and helpful with directions as needed. The Concierge staff too numerous
to name, were always there to help with whatever questions or to print boarding passes as Michael did.

The 19 year veteran server in the breakfast room started our off the days with a friendly smile
and infectious laugh; and the breakfast buffet was quite extensive and comprehensive.

    Bartender Steven and bar server Muhktar did all they could to make our stay fun and pleasant;
Michael and Joel are two very bright young men on the move.
Their attitudes of friendliness and enthusiasm are sure to take them far.

And I cannot forget to single out Juliette, who, with her "can do" attitude,
was very helpful to me the last night of our stay.
She left me with a great last impression about the hotel.

Then the bellman who literally got into the street gridlock jam
and found our car so we could be on our way to the airport.

One of the greatest features was the shuttle bus to the tennis tournament. (And the two
    women who helped with that.) I don't know if the Essex House is responsible for the shuttle service;
it really made a hugethe difference every morning and evening (including very late night).

(By the way, I found out about the shuttle when I called the concierge desk two weeks before our stay.)

And I must mention the water bottles near the front entrance. When the heat was nearly unbearable
    that water wasa big help.

And the huge TV projected on the wall in the bar so we could keep track of the tennis.

And I also must mention the housekeepers who always had a smile and a pleasant greeting.
Particularly the housekeeper on the 14th floor who sung out GOOD morning is such a
    pleasant and memorable way.

And on top of all that, I cannot forget to mention the little park across the street.

I feel like the JW Essex House is so very buttoned up and superbly managed with
every detail under control and attended to. I tend to be hyper-critical of hotels.
As I think through our stay at the JW Essex House, there are only the very most positive feelings
and impressions that come to mind .

We are very grateful for our stay there. It made the difference between a good trip and a great trip.

  • Central Park location

by vegasrugbyref on 2018-09-19 12:14 am

Very busy hotel with a ton of tennis fans. Breakfast area for executive members crazy busy and not enjoyable. Rooms were adequate but very over priced and thus much better value elsewhere. Property chosen due to immediate proximity to Central Park but I know there are much better values at Marriott properties in NTC than this one.

  • Great hotel on Central Park

by SunSandStyleSports on 2018-09-16 05:39 pm

I stayed here for work and it was great! The staff was friendly and customer service focused. They were quick to reconcile any concerns. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were huge in the king room. They have free coffee in the lobby restaurant every morning which is a nice touch.
