  • Anniversary Get Away

by XBKCAB on 2018-12-17 11:59 am

I have always loved La Fonda. Growing up in Santa Fe, the locals called it "The Hotel". It feels like coming home when I stay here now. It is right on the Plaza and across the street from St. Francis Cathedral. Every view is lovely. The parking garage is small but we got a space right by the door. Friendly people waited on us at the check in desk and gave us a perfect room with a view of Old Santa Fe Trail and Loretto Chapel. The king bed is firm and has plenty of pillows.
It is an old hotel but the remodel made the best of the space. I will leave plenty of photos. It has an espresso machine. The tv is huge. There is no place better for breakfast than La Plazuela.

  • All in the details- gorgeous property

    by MrsH1983 on 2018-12-17 06:55 am

We felt so spoiled staying here as the entire property is incredible!
Our room was spacious and well thought out.
The traditional New Mexico feel mixed with modern fixtures really made it stand out.
We stopped often while walking around to look at the historic art collection that's seemingly everywhere on the property.

The location is perfect- walking distance to everything. Christmastime in the plaza is pretty special. We finished our evening with drinks at La Fiesta bar when we returned from a night out- upscale cocktails and live music added to the ambiance. We noticed that the restaurant was still completely full at 10:30 at night- something you don't see in other hotels.

Enjoyed brunch on Sunday morning at La Plazuela- WOW. Got to sample some other dishes as everyone ordered something different. I could have stayed there all day!

Nothing standard about the fixtures or feel of anything- truly a high-end hotel. We really can't wait to come back and stay for longer. What a place!

    Owner Response
    Dear MrsH1983,
    Thank you!
I appreciate that you took the time to write such a glowing report of your short stay with us! This is the perfect time of year to be in Santa Fe, the lights on the Plaza trees, the smell of pinon burning in the fireplaces and of course, Old Fashioned Cocktails in our cozy lobby bar!
I hope you take the opportunity for the short drive south and come back for a much longer stay in the future...
    All my best,

  • Ambience of Traditional NM - Near The Plaza, Palace of the Governors, Shops

    by Louise M on 2018-12-16 06:41 am

We spent 4 nights at the hotel and it was a very pleasant experience. The room and hotel decorations and furnishings are traditional NM, which makes it very special for visitors to NM. Anna G our room attendant was excellent and made our room lovely and fresh each and every day. The room we stayed in was spacious with a view out of two sides of the room onto the surrounding streets. We ate dinner at the restaurant twice and it was a delicious, with the waitresses very personable and efficient on both occasions. The Maitre de on Sunday breakfast however was rude and unhelpful, which soured our experience. Overall, it is a lovely hotel to stay in, it is expensive (approx $500 AUD per night) and I would not rate it 5 stars. It was very conveniently located to visit Santa Fe and surrounds (Los Alamos, Tent Rocks, Rancho De Chimay? restaurant) and shops (Stay away from Simply Southwest Trading Co on the Plaza - terrible operators). For those who want a traditional NM experience with great food and ambience, its a lovely hotel to stay in and I would recommend.

  • Indian Market and Performances

    by ltwiggs2017 on 2018-12-15 08:22 am

The famous Indian Market moves indoors with all the fantastic art work from The New Mexico Pueblos. Not to be missed. The Hotel is world renowned for it's ambiance service and art work all nicely "provenanced"

  • Santa Fe

    by Jackie V on 2018-12-14 06:13 am

My husband and I visited Santa Fe in December to see the luminaries and enjoy the museums and galleries.
The La Fonda Hotel is festive and relaxing and is located across the street from the plaza. Our room was very spacious and comfortable.
The hotel concierge, Felix, is very knowledgeable and so helpful. He made suggestions that really enhanced our trip.
I highly recommend a visit to Santa Fe and a stay at the La Fonda.
