  • Great hotel in a great location!

    by MissKMI6 on 2019-04-21 01:40 pm

This hotel is beautiful and close to everything! It's super clean, quiet and safe. Nespresso machine and tea available in the room. The bath supplies are nice and everything is there. I flew with a carry on and didn't pack many toiletries such as soap shampoo etc... All rooms face Trump tower with the name in your face but it's a nice building and we used it as a mark to find out hotel. The hotel is in the loop right along the river. there is a place downstairs to get a quick breakfast to go. Catch the architectural boat tour with Shoreline across the street. 10 minute walk to Navy Pier, 20 mins to Cindy's rooftop and bean, 30 minutes to planetarium. The rooftop terrace has a great view! The bar on the top floor has nice drinks and we caught a dance party one night with a DJ. Ken at the front desk was super helpful and really nice. I would stay here again.

  • Unforgettable!

We booked three nights at the hotel as part of an eleven day visit to the US. It was our first time in Chicago.
We checked in on line the day before - the earliest time to check in was 4pm. We arrived at the hotel at around 2pm, catching the Loop from Midway Airport and just a short walk. We were fine leaving our luggage and going for a short walk although we were very jetlagged. The receptionist said they would send us a message once the room was ready.
At 4pm on the dot and having received nothing we went back to the hotel, we were told the room still wasn't ready but we were offered a drink in the bar. Waiting for a room is always annoying especially after long flights and with a five hour time difference, but there was nothing they could do so we chose to wait around at reception and finally at 4:30 we got the keys.
Room 1410'was amazing, we had a wonderful view over the river - in fact all along the river! It wasn't a huge room, there wasn't a massive amount of storage space and it is the first time we have had drawers under the bed in a hotel! The safe was low down and drawer style so very comfortable to use. There was a large TV with all the usual channels and the internet was fast. The room was beautifully decorated with a huge floor to ceiling window framing the glorious view.
The bathroom was compact but had everything and the toiletries were nice. There were plenty of towels and two robes. There was a Nespresso coffee maker, with 3 capsules, one sachet of sugar and one creamer - not exactly generous for 2 guests! With some clever thinking and lots of patience we managed to make tea for us both- with our own bags.
We had dinner the first night in the restaurant at street level. The burgers were very good, the service pleasant, and there was a nice cosy atmosphere. Later we had a glass of wine in the bar by reception, staring out at the view!
We had breakfast two mornings at the restaurant, everything we tried was very good and the coffee nice. There was always a nice buzz and being at street level is pleasant. On the third morning we had breakfast at the pastry shop which can be accessed from the hotel. We had delicious cinammon rolls and coffee.
We slept very well every night at the hotel, a comfy bed, just the right temperature. It was also very quiet, no noise from outside or neighbours.
The staff was very pleasant, receptionists, porters, cleaners, restaurant staff.... but what made us really fall in love with this hotel was the view and its position. It is just a short walk from the nearest Loop station, right next to Michigan Avenue and the river. There are shops and restaurants metres away and you can get the boat just across the river to do the architecture tour. If we visit Chicago we would not consider staying anywhere else!.

  • Not for new families

The LondonHouse Chicago is a buzzing place for those traveling solo or without children. The rooms are nice with great views of the city. I brought my baby and the hotel does not have microwaves to sterilize bottles or pump parts. When I asked mgmt, I was offered no resolution. My company had completed a previously provided form to charge their corporate card for room rates and parking fees. Although this was arranged prior to my stay, I again had to provide the form at check. At check out, Valet parking car retrieval took longer than expected. After check out, my personal card was charged for fees that my company explicitly agreed to pay for on the form the hotel provided them. I will not return to this hotel if I need to bring family.
