  • Terrible experience

    Checked-in today and the front desk informed us that they are fully booked and that the Premier Ocean Tower room that we paid for in advance is not available and we are being downgraded to a lower class of room and they will be throwing in some freebies to compensate. Shocked to receive this kind of treatment at The Westin. Shameful for the hotel management to treat its guests like this. And to make things worse, the air-conditioning in the room we received was not working properly. Called the hotel technician and he said there was a problem with the thermostat and he would try to look for a replacement unit but most likely only the next day it can be fixed.
    Can't imagine what the rest of our stay at this hotel is going to be like.

    My 1st expression here are horrible. The receptionist was not welcome at all . She just like doing then tells u just go come back at 3. Then she left without saying nothing or showing around. Then extra resort fee ? And u have to pay for your own chair and umbrella by hours when u are actually a guest at the hotel. The pool are tiny may be fit 10 aldut max to chill not to swimming.
    Room are little old but decent clean
    Plus is it close to everything walking distance.
    Hope hotel fix the receptionist attitude and those extra nonsense fees

  • Pool not monitored properly

    Currently staying at moana surfrider. The location is great, rooms are okay, but pool area is the worse. Visitors come at 7am when the pool opens and throw towels on the chairs and leave for hours. Pool attendants say they are monitoring the chairs (they are supposed to be freed up if the visitors haven't been on the chair for an hour), but having been at the pool for hours on several days of our trip, we can vouch that the attendants aren't doing a good job. One lady beside us had 2 chairs blocked all day and no one used the chairs beside her. There were several other families that came to the pool and left because they couldn't get chairs. Frustrating to see such weak controls.

  • historical and excellent service

    I love this hotel! the historical charm, great service, and location were perfect. The room was clean and updated. Being in the center of Waikiki allowed us to walk to everything. The restaurant was excellent - we ate breakfast there every morning, and we easily walked to other restaurants in the area. Parking across the street was easy too.

    I'm not sure why this hotel gets the hate that it does but my family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were here from March 2nd to March 7th, 2019. It's a wonderful hotel located in the heart of Waikiki and directly on the beach. First off, this is the first hotel ever built in Waikiki and the reason why it's called the First Lady. The hotel is gorgeous with its classical open air decor that leads to the terrace and beach. The service and staff here is phenomenal. We had no problems getting assistance with any request. We stayed in the Tower Premier Ocean View Room with a View of Diamond Head. Its was worth every penny for the view. They have onsite restaurants, gym, spa, a pool, and beach rentals. The list of included amenities that the resort fee covers is definitely worth it. It even includes a one day GoPro rental. Yes, resort fees suck but to us it was worth it this trip. The pool is a bit on the small side but who goes to Hawaii to be in a pool when the beach is just steps away. Also, for those who complain about Waikiki Beach being crowded just get there early or later in the day. Enjoy the fun of the island. If you're looking something quieter head to the North Shore for a day. Thanks again to the staff and management for making our first trip to Hawaii memorable.
