  • great winter visit

    by S6675MOgaryb on 2019-12-13 12:12 am

had a great weekend here. good food, drinks, location. the ONLY thing that was a surprise to my wife and I were the amount of families with young children. we are empty nesters and love children but didn't realize there would be an abundance of them running around and having fun as kids typically do. i plan to recommend this place to my niece that has a 6 and 8 year old. they would have a great time. unfortunately we will not likely return until our grand children are of age and then i would definitely take them there and enjoy it through their eyes....everything from the animals, sledding, ice skating, etc.

  • Must visit

I chose this hotel due to the proximity to Santa's Village. However, what I didn't realize was that I should have stayed longer to enjoy the amenities of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was delicious, the staff was so friendly and the accommodations lovely... a must visit! We will be back.

  • Friendly, comfortable, historic hotel

by IOG on 2019-12-05 04:40 am

We drove four hours just to "get away" from the world for a bit. Perfect location. Parked the car and didn't use it until we left. Gray, snowy weather, but still got out for a couple of walks and a visit to the farm animals.

The staff go out of their way to accommodate you and any requests that you might have. Great facilities, and not overly expensive. Meals were wonderful, and we quickly noticed that the portions were huge and splitting dinners was more than enough food. The staff didn't bat an eye, and the first time we split a dinner, two plates came out that could have been a full dinner each. No haggling over sharing. Nice.

They have ongoing renovations, and some of the rooms and pool area could use a bit of a face lift, but everything is clean and comfortable and not outrageously expensive.

Unlike Bretton Woods, this hotel is not really in the midst of the mountains, but it has probably a greater than 180 degree panoramic view of the mountains, including the Presidential Range, when they aren't covered by clouds.

The food manager, by the way, is extremely friendly and the food is great, so he's doing his job. Perhaps the hotel should send him to a wine class so he actually knows what he's talking about when doing the (complementary) afternoon wine tasting. No complaints though, just a suggestion!

Nicely done Mountain View Grand! We'll be back.

  • Time out! Technology not welcome!

by kiannasnana on 2019-12-02 10:20 am

5 of us stayed 11-27-29-19It was such a refreshing atmosphere watching families reconnect, playing Board games, doing puzzles together, participating in one or all of the many activities the MVG had planned. Very few attached to their devices. My hubby and son came in 1st and 2nd in the Axe throwing contest. The activities made it so much fun even though it was snowy and windy and bitter cold out there. They are quite entertaining. The farm animals were enjoyable to visit as was the indoor pool, so warm and cozy while the snow was falling just the other side of the glass. The rooms were exceptionally clean. TheMVG building itself was like stepping back in time, to days of grandeur. Yet it had all necessary modern amenities. What impressed me most was the staff....EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER.... NO MATTER WHAT THEIR JOB CAPACITY IS...IS EXTREMELY WARM FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL . They EXCELL in being hospitable, mindful, and friendly. I have not experienced this in any other hotel I've been to. So far above par! I will say the food and cocktails are very pricey so be prepared for that. We felt no need to venture off the property as their was so much to do. We even enjoyed their movie theatre to ourselves one afternoon as well as ping pong, pool air hockey and other games. Will def. return. Leave devices in your room and reconnect with family!

We had an outstanding experience at the Mountain View Grand. Amazing service, fantastic food and incredible staff. Located only 20 minutes from Bretton Woods - this is the ideal location for a ski vacation. Loved every moment!
